According to one Twitter user, Jim Ray, the data usage has increased from just a couple of GBs to 7GB after upgrading to iOS 9, and it is suspected that the WiFi Assist feature could be the root cause of this problem. Affected users who suspect that their data bandwidth is being wasted for no apparent reason can go ahead and try the steps outlined below to disable this automatic switch.

Here is how you do it:

Launch the Settings app and tap Mobile Data/Cellular
Scroll down to the bottom of the page and disable Wi-Fi Assist
That's it. Your iPhone will no longer switch automatically to 3G or 4G data network at times when the Wi-Fi signal reception is poor or weak, which should prevent unexpected and unwanted data usage.

However, you can still manually switch back to 3G/4G data network manually whenever the need arises. Furthermore, you can evaluate and keep track of the consumed mobile data bandwidth on your iPhone by navigating to Settings > Cellular > Cellular Data Usage.

Now switched to Flow there but having issues with 1 thing

Apple TV wouldn't pick up the connection all

Any solutions?

Went through the usual steps like checking if the same connection is in use on both computer and Apple TV, checking the connection on the Apple TV itself, etc

are you using WPA?

try turning off security on your wifi router for a bit and see if it sees the connection.

I find I get better streaming performance with a wired connection. Also might be a good idea to get an Airport Extreme or Express 8-)

Yea it's a WPA set up. Should note that it does see the connection and goes through the set up like normal, but after that, nothing. It's as if I never connected in the first place.

Yea usually wired connections are better though not an option in my case.

Actually do have an AirPort Express. Guess no harm in hooking that up to it to see if it helps.

Its actually one of those router/modems.

Arris Touchstone DOCSIS 3.0 to be precise.

Thank God for those AirPort Expresses. That did the trick. Kinda surprised me that it worked since it basically backending off of the same problematic Flow connection, but hey it worked it worked. I'll study the reasons later on.

Thanks for the help.

I agree.. MBP finally feels better than how it was with Yosemite.

jhonnnieblue.. how's that Macbook working out for you?
The display is beautiful, key travel is a lil shallow. My main gripe is the lack of ports though.

Pretty good..so far with this El Capitan update it flying...portability is perfect and could throw LR and PS on it with no issues.

The lack of ports hadn't affected me much...most stuff I import across WiFi or Bluetooth..just forces u to be innovative with using wireless...if transferring lots of data from say my dslr SD Card I just put it on my Macbook Pro and use drop box or Google Drive to sync
Typing actually feels better on it than my pro tho..

At long last, iOS is allowing app makers to implement text replies in notifications, a feature Apple used to reserve exclusively for its Messages app.

Twitter was the first App Store app to gain this great time-saver of a feature. On iOS 9.1, WhatsApp for iPhone now supports a handy text field for quickly replying to incoming messages without leaving the app you’re currently using.

This feature requires an iPhone with iOS 9.1 or later.

If you don’t see Quick Replies in WhatsApp, consider updating your iPhone to iOS 9.1. As commenters pointed out, Quick Reply has been available in the previous WhatsApp build on iOS 9.1 betas.

why not get a USB C hub or USB C card reader?

RAW files from a dslr would take kinda long to transfer over wireless.
That said.. the 13" MBP starts at the same price with no need for hubs or card readers.

Well I dint do a lot of editing on the mac12.ita just like one off pics..plus I have access to them from creative cloud when the pics are loaded on the main Mac book. So far all I have for it is the USB to USB cord...have to had the need for anything else...with cloud storage sync basically everything is easily accessible...that and I hate wires all over..so for my uses that multi port is a waste

Piece of advice, get

CleanMyMac 3
that is terrible advice

most reviews show that CleanMyMac is spammy, invasive and almost impossible to get uninstalled from your mac

Duane, is that 27" 5k iMac ever seem too big of a display? Is it usually right in front of you on your desk, or is there some distance between you and the display?

I can work easily on my 15" rMBP and I've been looking at the 21.5" model for sometime. The only thing is that by the time it's customized, it's into 27" price territory.

I mostly do photo editing, no 4k video.

I sit about as close as 15-20" away from my iMac 5K and no more than 25-26" all day - it's awesome.

the higher the resolution of a screen the closer you can sit without seeing pixels.

For 218 PPI, displaymate.com says the viewing distance where the pixels would be resolved with 20/20 vision is 16.1 inches, so as long as you’re 16.1 inches or further from your display, it will look Retina.

And after using a 27" screen for almost a year now I wish it was bigger!

I do photo editing in Lightroom and the extra resolution to look at photos at 1:1 plus still have space for the toolbars etc is fantastic.

Even if you don't do any graphic work, the text on the 5K monitor is just awesome and considerably easier on the eyes to read.

I actually run mines at 2880 x 1620 which is higher than the standard retina so I can fit more stuff on the screen at a time. The highest resolution of 5120x2880 is just too high and the text is tiny.

the 2014 and 2015 iMac 5K models have a 5120x2880 native resolution, but by default run "pixel doubled" at a setting that looks like 2560x1440, it just has four times the detail of a "traditional" display.

if you think it will be too big then look at the new 2015 21" 4K iMac.
But I think you will be much better off editing photos on the 27" 5K.

465-5759 Praveen. he changed an iPhone 6 screen for me yesterday - great service

with phone repairs and just about everything else there's good, fast and cheap, but you can only pick two.
There's good and fast but it won't be cheap
There's fast and cheap but it wont be good
There's cheap and good but it wont be fast (the repair shop might keep your phone for weeks)

He's good and fast (10mins) - his price is worth it.
