I spent last night fishing on a pirogue fishing Down the Islands. The night was overcast but no rain, from midnight we observed heavy lightning in the Gulf to the Southwest of our position. From about 2:00 am the cloud cover became heavier and we decided a short while after to move to the head of Scotland Bay which was the safest haven close to our location. At 3:00 am the weather system from the Gulf hit us with full force, a lot of forked lightning and thunder, rain falling horizontally, the worst was the heavy wind gusts which caused serious waves and caused us to drag a heavy anchor and chain 3 times in the 40 minutes the weather lasted. All the other boats in Scotland also ran to the head of the Bay to shelter, one foreign idiot in a 40 foot catamaran decided to pull anchor to ride out the storm, he drifted and slammed into us, causing some damage to the port side gunwale. Thankfully the damage was not worse. Despite the 3 man crew wearing rain gear we were soaked to the bone.
I understand that boats in South were also damaged.

There were multiple heavy showers downtown POS this afternoon to evening . Left just after 5pm and there was chaos on Queen St . All traffic from Richmond seemed to be turning into Queen . I drove down Richmond to avoid the traffic . There was maybe a foot and half of stagnant water at the bottom of Richmond near the intersection of Independence Sq north . Vans and Suvs were avoiding that water . After I passed at slow to moderate speed , ac off , some vehicles decided to come down Richmond.

On the way home eastbound there were sequential lightning strikes around .

Weekend Weather Warning

Be on the lookout for possible flash flooding and gusty winds in areas experiencing heavy showers or thundershowers. Code orange over the next four days with the possibility of red on Sunday in certain areas.
