They NEED to Remove the FUEL Subsidy for ALL those Foreign Registered Vessels in Trinidad and only sell the subsidized prices to boats that are Registered LEGALLY.
A Whole set of boats owned locally but registered in Delaware and St lucia- Wax em and TAx em at the fuel pumps!

Labour and management costs at petrotrin. Trim that fat, and we stand a chance at being competitive.

budget sounded good. expecting kamla to cry it down lol. so far, for every $10,000 he give us he take back 6000 through property tax, and then more through raising transport cost that may or may not total the same 10,000 or more lol. but there is still opportunity for profit. will have to read the budget statement to catch the price of oil he working with but if its not too high and he can accomplish those projects in the budget it would be a Job Well Done. id think however that hes standing on a backbone of oil at $40. id work with 20, and leave the railway for later.

i hope they make sure this contractor backpay of 5bn is not a set of ghostgang contracts.

If that $6 is a huge problem then you shouldn't own a car in the first place.

The subsidy is based on international spot prices of fuel..

Petrotrins cost isnt a factor in the calculation....

Increase in diesel prices for commercial use will cause a ripple effect.
Food prices will go up, transportation prices will go up, and it will ripple across the economy.

yea...i heard since diesel went up.....the price of transporting the diesel also went up too!

it's now $2.00!

Transport is merely a portion of the total costs of goods and services (both manufactured and imported). Any business who increases his cost by the 15% and cites that diesel gone up merely engaging in shameless profiteering.

The increase in fuel prices will send everything up in this country.

Fuel subsidy has to be removed. Trinis may now actually start to think about using their vehicles in a more efficient manner.

What I find interesting is the accusation that the UNC didnt save a single red cent. They spend all the revenue, went into over draft and even borrowed against the funds they couldnt touch,

I waiting to see if UNC go respond to that.

Every damn thing going up now as diesel and super prices gone up. Reduction in vat is ah waste of time compared to fuel price increase.

Anything said about MVT and RORO industry?

hmmm, no idling, especially with a/c on.
drive at lower rpms
drive less aggressively
keep vehicle well maintained.
some of the basics that others who are similarly concerned do.

Indeed. the speed limit is supposed to be the most efficient speed re: fuel consumption

You serious? this is great news. As little as they may be able to do I hope they still do it and not scrap the rail idea at all.

What significance will a rapid rail be to such a small country? Where are they gonna lay down the railway? Seeing a next 300 day hunger strike from Kubs if it'll ever be.

Since when is Trinidad considered small? This country is 4,768 km square. In stark contrast Barbados is 430 km square. Trini is very large and deserving of a rapid rail. As a matter of fact its going to take a whopping 25 minutes from Sando to POS on a rapid rail. 25 minutes is quite a long ride, I have been playing Arma 3 these days and Altis the fictional island is 273 square KM and having experience how long it takes to get from one end to the next in a vehicle with top speed, most times requiring a helicopter to reach anywhere in a decent time frame. It just shows how huge Trinidad really is. And we have not even gotten to the part with massive traffic in this place.

So "Kams"was right to use the helicopter.

Have you seen the profitability figures for most of the big businesses operating in Trinidad?

In general people tend to operate on a pricing structure of "half and half"

It's time they start cutting into their margins to compensate for the increase in fuel.

Maybe if "Kams" was still in power she would have announced a helicopter service from San Fernando to PoS.

It wouldn't hurt but I do think the exact price should be passed on. Not an inflated price.

This too. Trinis want a 100% profit every time.

This is far from the truth, taxi drivers are bounded by an association, if individual taxi drivers could set their own prices then that would cause havoc
