I hadda quote some stuff that NEVER materialised via the hopes of the Pro-P.P stooges. Ahem...

Prime Minister Kamla Persad-Bissessar said yesterday that she will use the Prime Minister’s Residence and Diplomatic Centre in St Ann’s, but will open it up to the people, as is the custom in the United States with the White House.

I going to manning palace.
might take a swim in the pool too.

First things first- Police service!

Bring in some serious law enforcement officials from abroad and REMOVE the illiterate idiots currently in positions of power within our local police service.
Re-educate and retrain tham all.

Bring forth a new police service, one that will be respected, FEared and Serious!

who will be the new Minister of national security? Kadis? Volney?

Reading those old series of threads shows how nothing the P.P promised to do ever materialised. It is easy to compare what was said in 2010 versus the reality now. Thanks Duane for the chance to view things objectively and empirically. 8-)

I don't know why in this day and age people still refer to seats as "safe".

After the chaguanas by election and the political climate in the past 5 yrs we as a people should not be encouraging "safe seats". This is why there are so many neglected parts of Trinidad because those parties to whom the people behold their vote are not seen as a priority and thus ignored.

Those with "safe seat mentality" should be discarded and ignored as they are not part of any solution.

I must say this has to be one Kamla's worst election speeches.

She is asking what Dr. Rowley will cut, madam, oil prices are already below our benchmark and heading for <$40, if you are not going to cut something then you are scuttling our economy.

TOYOLINK put it really well when he observed the total lack of informed political discussion in this forum. It is interesting to see not only the usual suspects, but even Moderators (who have editorial power) descending into the gutter. As an undecided voter (I voted PP last time), the offerings so far show total contempt for anyone with a basic education. It makes me think:was Independence really the better option?

By year's end every vehicle on the nation's roads will have to be equipped with a new high-tech number plate which will only be issued by the Motor Vehicle Authority, says Works and Transport Minister Jack Warner.

Warner said this new number plate will have a special micro chip which will help in the fight against crime as police would be able to quickly access vehicle and owner information.
In addition, these new plates will allow police to catch those who break traffic laws and therefore parking tickets, tickets for breaking the red light, etc, will be mailed to the owner of the vehicle.
The plates, he said, will come complete with Radio Frequency Identification (RFI) which will allow police to read them from 30 feet away.

Warner spoke of the modernisation and transformation of the Licensing Authority which will now be known as the Motor Vehicle Authority and which will be completed by the end of November.
He acknowledged that this plan was initiated by his predecessor, former transport minister Colm Imbert.
Warner said the cost for this initiative currently stood at $120 million for new hardware and software as well as professional services.
The cost to relocate the head office to Frederick Settlement is yet to be determined.
He assured that no jobs will be lost in the transformation process.
Warner said the new licence plate will be manufactured by a foreign company and issued only by the Motor Vehicle Authority.

He said the plates, which could be customised, will come in 16 different classifications including private, commercial, new/used vehicle dealers, off road, trailers, construction among others.
New drivers licences will also be issued under the new system.
Warner said sub-offices will be located in Port of Spain, Arima, Sangre Grande, Rio Claro, Princes Town, Chaguanas, Tobago, Siparia and Point Fortin.
He added that legislation to ban cell phones while driving is also in the cards.

PNM RACISM REVEALED ONCE AGAIN!!!
Funny how Dr. Rowley tried to trick the population into believing he has a diverse slate of candidates. Watch this!!!
Out of the 41 candidates selected to contest seats under the PNM 14 are of East Indian decent (no problem there.)
However, the 14 East Indian candidates were placed in seats they could NEVER win. They were placed in UNC safe seats thus eliminating any chance of them being a representative in Parliament. Best case scenario for the PNM is that only two of these people could actually win their seats (Chaguanas East and St Joseph.)
If PNM is to form the Government of Trinidad and Tobago come September 8th, this will effectively mean that there will no one of East Indian decent in the Government bench of the Lower House. This is a indictment to persons of East Indian decent and not representative of our multicultural multiethnic society. I call on you to reject Keith Rowley and the PNM racist tactics. Reject the PNM before it's too late!!!!
Mayaro - Mr. Clarence Rambharat
St Joseph - Hon. Terrence Deyalsingh
Couva South - Councillor Alif Mohammed
Pointe-a-Pierre - Mr. Neil Moahmmed
Oropouche East - Mr. Terry Shaun Jadoonanan
Oropouche West - Mr. Clifford Rambharose
Caroni Central - Senator Avinash Singh
Siparia - Mr. Vidya Deokiesingh
Princes Town - Mr. Nikolaiski Ali
Cumuto/Manzanilla - Councillor Bharath (Barry) Lochan
Couva North - Mr. Richard Rahoonanan
Caroni East -Ms. Sara Alisa Budhu
Barataria/San Juan - Mr. Hafeez Ali
Chaguanas East - Parbatee Helen Maharaj

Is this a poor attempt at a joke? Deyalsingh has St Joseph in his pocket. Mayaro, Pointe-a-Pierre and Barataria/San Juan could easily swing away from the UNC.

By the same token the PP has has put the bulk of COP candidates in seats they can never win, is this not also discrimination on the part of the UNC? out of the following maybe only Prakash can scrape by:

The COP's candidates:

1. Port-of-Spain South - Cleveland Garcia

2. Diego Martin West - Avonelle Hector

3. San Fernando East - Ashaki Scott

4. Arouca/Maloney - Wendell Eversley

5. D'abadie/O'Meara - Patricia Metivier

6. Arima - Dr Rodger Samuel

7. Lopinot/Bon Air West - Dr Lincoln Douglas

8. St Augustine - Prakash Ramadhar

If I were a political leader I would want a true reflection of my party's support at rallies. If its less than desired then so be it. It will spurn members of my base to ensure that they get their vote in. And at the same time it will make my opposition fall into a false sense of security.

On the flipside, when u 'pad' ur support, you awaken the opposition's base and marginal voters who may misinterpret the show of support as a threat to the result they desire and these ppl will make the extra effort to vote.

That's how I see it
