Despite how saturated engineering is in general right now and how difficult it is to get a job, do you all see much opportunities in the field of elec. and comp eng within 3-4 years to come?

Yes supposedly Kamla is going to start up a wind farm industry in Trinidad or something to that extent for renewable energy.

Assuming she wins the election that is.

As a doctor you can eventually work for yourself as an engineer your married to the job (home life suffers ) best advice is to be self employed

Bet they hire 2 electrical engineers and 20 mechanical engineers.

And scramble last minute to get a civil engineer to design the foundation for them.

No. In generation facilities (generally), the large mechanical systems need engineering support from mechanical engineers. Electrical engineers take care of distribution and protection systems, which 2 to 3 Electrical engineers working shift can handle just fine.

we have 5 total electronics based engineers against about 30-40 mech engineers.
we mainly do troubleshooting whereas mechanical guys do very regular servicings

Doctor = sure work.....always shortage of doctors

Engineers...real pace to get a work..and when u do..is a real grind...unless u in the public service or wrkn for public companies like tntec etc...and still...your back always against a wall ..as u can loose your job anytime

I would advise ne1 to do medicine..its in demand in trini

I dunno why ppl saying med school is more stress...schl is schl...gt it over with and move on...is all about the mindset

Not true. I did eng and from what I saw med students go through, med school is way more stress. Once you in it that is your life. In eng you can still have a life on weekends when exams not on you. In faculties like humanities, they have no idea what stress really is. They will swear that they do, but they don't.

I have real respect for med people cuz I know I camt go through that.

I don't think medicine is that hard actually. Lots of memorizing and constantly changing body of knowledge, but less thought and analysis than engineering IMO.

depends on the area you work..any internal med, emergency or primary care physician would strongly disagree...

OP dont choose base on salaries or perks...choose what you think would be more interesting/makes you happier...the salaries are very comparable in all aspects depending on which specific area/subspecialty you enter...

Well dise BS.

Internal Medicine and its subspecialties involves a high level of critical thinking, analysis, and creativity. (Especially stuff like Nephrology, Critical Care, Pulm. and Neuro)

Memorizing eh going to help you there.

If you want to go into petro do your degree with utt as they are accredited now ik people look down on utt but trust me it pays off as you get jobs in the end then after you finish your bachelors and gaining work experience do your masters at UWI i.e Masters in Petroleum engineering and trust me you'll be very marketable.
