while the guy at the other end may have bowled tight and helped create pressure, you cant discredit the guy who actually got the wickets at the other end by giving credit to the other bowler.

besides he bowled really well for such an extended period, most of the wickets he got were very good deliveries. He did good by west indian standards.

Where did I discredit him? Bishoo bowled haddin with a ball nearly as good as warne's gatting ball but those pivotal wickets of the best spin players, smith, haddin, clarke came about as a result of frustration because of the tight performance of the other guys. I can't see why it's a sin to point out the contribution. Absolutely beautiful, he did excellent by any international standards against the current ashes holding side minus harris as you know who's Johnson's main support. Giving credit to support bowlers is not a foreign concept, it's cricket 101.

The thing about WI is that they struggle to play two decent innings of good cricket. If they eh playing catch up they throwing away the match....

Andre Fletcher, the West Indies and Windward Islands wicketkeeper-batsman, who was fined EC$ 2000 (approx. US$ 740) by a Dominica court for possession of ammunition, has labelled the incident as a "genuine misunderstanding" on his part.

Fletcher, 27, was in Dominica practising with the Windward Islands team and was about to leave the country when he was arrested last month. However, Fletcher said in a statement that while he accepted full responsibility for the incident, he had "no idea" that the package in his possession was actually .22 ammunition instead of .22 pellets for the registered hunting air rifle he owns.

"When I obtained the package it was sealed. Having been told that the package contained air rifle pellets, without closely inspecting it further I assumed that the contents were indeed what I was told," Fletcher said. "Until it was brought to my attention at the airport, I had no inkling that the package contained live ammunition."

"I carried the package openly in my hand to and through the airport and subsequently loosely placed it in my carry-on bag as I sought to clear security at the Douglas Charles Airport in Dominica.

"During the normal inspection of my luggage, the customs officer in Dominica informed me that the items appeared to be .22 calibre live rounds and not .22 pellets. Upon further investigation of the package, it was indeed found that the contents were live .22 calibre rounds and not .22 pellets for air rifles."

Fletcher has played 15 ODIs and 22 T20Is for West Indies, and last represented the team in January. He said that he would not let "the unfortunate incident" compromise his career.

"The unfortunate incident which led to my detention in Dominica on May 28 will not deter me from continuing to represent the region or my country once given the opportunity to do so," he said. "I will never intentionally do anything to cause hurt or embarrassment to my nation, my fans or especially my family."

Do they actually "buy" the team of even a portion of the team? Been wondering this since they announced Wahlberg and Butler were owner/part owners of Tallawahs and Tridents.
This league is so nontransparent I would believe its merely a marketing ploy to have celebrities attached to a franchise without ownership really happening.

WI have Oz 19-2..Taylor both wickets. The composition of the team though
No Bishoo (I assume his finger still damaged), no Gabriel and significantly no Samuels.
Chandrika was selected and he is and opener whilst Shai Hope who opens is a middle order batsman. I wonder it they will put people in their appropriate spots??

A rule of thumb that I use is whatever our bowlers are doing the opposition, once in the the top 3, usually does it better. Not talking about sharing runs.

Steven Smith is a run scoring machine....excellent young player. Does he still bowl? Iirc bowling was his strength and reason for selection in the earlies.

Something is terribly wrong with WI players. Supporters should boycott every match until they get their act together. But nah how we go fete! Ramdin looks as if his mind is on the other side of the planet if not in space.

Think about it...no supporters -> less revenue (sponsors and ticket sales) -> pressure on wicb to make proper strategic decisions for WI cricket -> wicb bread and butter reinstated upon positive result

Not only the batting, the bowling too.

Bravo, Permaul, Ramdin, Samuels and Roach have to go.

You would think that with Ambrose and LLoyd around, these players would have some modicum of discipline and use their brains.

Shai Hope and Shane Dowrich have massive potential and I will give them an extended run to settle into the team. Blackwood and Holder are good finds and will truly develop in years to come. Taylor bowled amazingly well on that Sabina pitch.

"The West Indies rot started years ago when Brian Lara and company did not want to do the hard work set out by then physio Dennis Waight.

He was in the role for 23 years. The end was signalled on the 1999-2000 tour of South Africa. Those who had come up under him had retired and their successors deemed his methods too demanding.

I realised the problem when I returned to the team’s hotel in East London one morning and found Waight in the bar when, at that time, he was usually out conducting his training sessions. The manager, ironically Clive Lloyd, told him captain Brian Lara and vice-captain Carl Hooper had approached him to ask that Waight ease up on his workouts; Waight duly obliged".

"Judged by the images visible to on the television coverage, Garner is clearly upset by the team’s overall lack of fitness and resulting lethargy. With a few exceptions, key players are carrying extra weight in the wrong places. The effect is the same as it is on the back of race horses.

Compared to the other, indisputably fitter major teams, the fielding is pedestrian; catches that should be taken at the highest level have been shelled. The casual running between the wickets usually represents a deficit of 20 runs an innings, even more".

Physical prowess was a big part in W.I dominance in that period with Packer and Waight but it was much more than that. Discipline, focus and basic cricket instilled by good tongue lashings and serious consequences for no performance. Guys who are getting paid to play cricket and represent a region can't bowl a consistent test line and length for 1 over and work an area. Taylor is earning his keep. The batsmen have no idea where their stumps are and brainlessly chasing wide balls and clueless against defending spin. Professional selection for you.

Today reminded me of Shastri talking about india last 2 years, 'push, push right back into the bush'.
