A PENAL retiree died on Sunday after drinking a concoction of alcohol and an energy drink, police said yesterday. Adrian Johnson, 61, of Batchiya Trace, drank the mixture at around 5 p.m. and was found dead four hours later.

According to a police report, Johnson's friend, whom police identified as "Patches", said he last saw him alive when he dropped off a "nip" of puncheon rum and a can of the energy drink and left.

At around 9 p.m., the man returned and found Johnson dead, with his head slumped over the kitchen sink.

The body was examined by district medical officer Dr Razia, who ordered an autopsy be done. Cpl Ramjattan is investigating.
