Concrete Wall Fungus Treatment

Postby simplejack » March 10th, 2015, 2:33 pm

Any of you tuners had this issue before that you treated?

Noticed this fungus issue running across the outside of my intended bedroom wall and now it's slowing coming on the inside. So I want to nip it before it spreads more. I read it is a moisture issue and this wall is almost 30 years old so it's probably years of moisture build up.

Someone recommended rubbing the spot off (since the paint is flaky) and paste it with POLY V and repaint, which I did. A few weeks later I noticed the paint bubbling and flaking again.

I saw this paint primer and sealer and was wondering if this would be more effective?

Attached is a picture of an image I got online that closely resembles it.

Any suggestions?

T & Z has a PPG Pittsburgh primer sealer that works well.
It contains an anti fungal agent.

You might have to scrub out the wall, apply Penetrating liquid, Primer and then paint.
Did that on a outside wall with moss on it.

I tried penetrating liquid on an exterior wall, it eventually peeled off

the bullseye123 might be your best bet,
however the root cause is moisture from inside the wall or the base of the wall
ie from under the slab, this is one of the reasons why they put plastic below the slab before casting it.
