What job can i get?

I need some help..my wifey just finished UWI and is looking for a job..she never worked apart from this..she sent out resumes all over but you know how things go with that...i want to know what kind of jobs she could possibly get..any info/help is greatly appreciated..ohh bdw she graduated with a bsc. from uwi...chemistry major and environmental and natural resource management major..thanks in advance for your info

or through service commissions?
she could also sign up to teach

there are sites such as caribbeanjobs.com and trinidadjobs.com where she can upload her resume online, a lot of employers post their vacancies there.

lastly she can sign up with a reputable recruitment agency such a regency recruitment.

Well nothing that remotely relates to the envi mang part. With the chemistry she my be able to teach. Or if she is lucky she can get through as a lab tech at certain companies. But the chances for that are slim in itself.

When you are starting a degree, it is best to look at what the job market has to offer before choosing... Just saying. Probably in WASA or something to do with land and marine development? What about in the analytically labs in the various plants in T&T, Bureau of standards, analytically service providers, chemistry teacher, school lab tech?? Just throwing out a few possibilities that come to mind.

Doesn't UWI require you have to do a certain amount of NGO/ Volunteer work before you can apply or something? That could count for experience on a resume.. a little stretch, but at least it documented.

Kinda sad leaving UWI without getting any summer jobs though. Says a lot to an employer about willingness to work and would be one of the first questions I ask in an interview. Unless it was spent on some kinda scholarship program, extra courses or something for self betterment that the applicant can prove, I would not hire them.

I myself did not have a full time summer job, but I spent my summers learning Autocad, Illustration, flash animation and photography. I sold a few computers, and built a few websites. Jobs were tight the year I graduated and I landed a job based solely on my Autocad ability. Guys with first class honors were turned down for the same position because they literally did nothing during their vacation.

Also, I got a few calls from the Alumni, but nearly 4 months after graduating for some decent job interviews. Tell her to join it and they will keep your resume on file for prospective employers.

She did certificate courses during the summer like in project management and a few others...she did sign up with the ministry of education a couple of years back and updated her file as she got her degree....she signed up with ojt but during their relocation in chaguanas her file was misplaced and she had to reapply ....normalbullshit...so she's just home for the while...washing clothes and cooking food..

reason for asking for opportunities in this field is that i am not aware of any jobs except in ema...wasa...labs..that could use her qualifications and just need a little broader scope

good suggestion here. Let her sign up to demonstrate undergrad and N1 labs. Pay is really good for the amount of work.

She can try applying to medical labs. Most of them would require working half day on Saturdays as well tho.
Also try applying to distributors of pharmaceuticals and chemical companies, they sometimes needs sales reps & other ppl with a chem background. Brydens would be a good place to start.
