Roadside parking

Postby Kenjo » October 23rd, 2014, 7:21 pm

Anyone can say if there are any actions that can be taken when most of the street roadside parking is taken up by mechanics who don't have sufficient space in front their yard to park cars that they are working on?

Good question, would like to know the same about other businesses that operate in this manner as well.

are those business drive throughs? then why would they have to cater for parking?
the onus is on drivers to park responsibly and "oh goard" WALK to the businesses they wish to visit.

Also that parking in front your place is not a right. There is no "that's my park, unless you are blocking your own driveway.

Delivery trucks that park in the middle of the road and offload goods should be charged.

There's a straightner in Caledonia just as OP stated. Cars line up on the roadway both sides of his garage entrance. Cars park up for months! Cause he taking jobs and is he alone......

iirc legally they have a right to do that

if u meant like parking any ole wayward how , taking extra long or containers parked up for more than a day i cud understand but say for ex like businesses on chaguanas main road from busy corner to d market with no parking facilities & no back entrances , how they going to get goods into their store ? , most store owners & suppliers wont do it after hrs at evening or night due to security issues ... :|

The idiocy of the pre 6pm Evans street drive is a prime example of this . :?

The street signs say turn left before 6pm on to Alice Street . Though I often feel like the only idiot obeying this law . On Alice there is a Garage or two with vehicles constantly parked on both sides of the road, making it one narrow lane. Turn right on the short street to Watts St is more of the same , vehicles stored and repaired in the road making it a narrow single lane .

These are the street that so called planners direct traffic from the highway into . If these vehicles are removed both roads are very wide but they are narrowed considerably with vehicles parked on both sides .

agreed, but you cannot do that in the middle of the road!

Doesn't the law state you cannot use the roadside to repair vehicle unless it is an emergency or accident?

I was wondering about this just this week as I wanted to file a complaint but was unsure if to go to the police or city cooperation or what because I fed up if dotish traffic morning and evening because of parlours having no parking and cars stopping on the main road blocking one lane. I say parlours but they more like mini marts cause they sell everthing

In San Fernando, there is a doctor that thinks he and his family owns the street. if anyone comes to visit us he always call to say they can't park on the road... now if any visitors come, they can park in front of (MY) driveway or anywhere in the road in front of our property. this A$$$ don't want any one parking on the street.... Now they live opposite us and when they have any function its okay for people attending there functions to park....

There is a mechanic just before Caribbean Bottlers and he has cars parked on the filter lane and shoulder of the CRH. In general mechanics are dicks to the driving public.

just to clear up...
its illegal for a mechanic to park vehicles on the road ways...police can charge him its termed a wayside garage, the police in the districts are usually tasked to ridding persons of these types of hazards...
while a defense for parking is loading/offloading....it can still cause and unnecessary obstruction so the police can act...
