Build (without monitor though)

SSD 120GB Intel 520 : 70 US
Gigabyte H81 LGA1150 Board: 55 US
Memory 8gb (2 x 4GB): 80 US
core I5 4460: 180 US
AMD R7 260x Graphics: 125 US

That's 510 US in total and shipping should be covered by the difference
The extra change can be put towards a 500GB Hard Drive or you can bump the SSD to 256GB at 113 US (for the Crucial Mx100) instead

Edit. Forgot to add in the PSU. That will close out the budget then :)

EVGA or Corsair Builder 430W PSU: 35-40 US

Well I the next board I have is an intel board with cpu already installed just cant remember which cpu exactly it has...like I said when I get home and locate will take a pic...will most likely order the ssd and a monitor going to get a 24 inch asus it is around 170 us...really hoping that board could get the job done with the current cpu..save some money there to invest in a power supply and the ssd

yea fellas so this is what i have in my amazon shopping cart so far..any tips on what could go...i know everyone here recommended a AMD build..but upon doing some asking around apparently they get super hot and pull serious power....so my real aim is to run most current games at 1080 p..said is best i do it good one time (okish)..went over my budget quite alot..so any tips as to what i could switch out or overall reviews would be appreciated

Asus VS247H-P 23.6-Inch Full-HD LED-Lit LCD Monitor -154.84

EVGA GeForce GTX760- 244.99 (real iffy about this one, a padner swears by it so i put it for consideration)

Seagate Desktop 1 TB Solid State Hybrid Drive SATA 6 GB- 77.24

Intel Core i5-4590S Processor-189.99

Kingston HyperX FURY 8GB Kit (2x4GB) 1600MHz DDR3 - 88.79

ASUS Micro ATX DDR3 1600 LGA 1150 Motherboard B85M-G R2.0-78.24

All figures qouted in US$ so is a total of 922.88

that escalated quickly

@moses_boss12 .. You could get a 23" AOC monitor by Supertech for $1050TTD. That graphic card works very well.. and its really worth the money. The hard drive is not a SSD (just incase you didn't know). Everything else looks really good. I would recommend a 750 watt Corsair PSU for the build.

ohh ok cool..anybody have a idea the cost of that PSU...and i am not to sure of the AOC quality...my padner had one and it was bear bull sh!ttt..my Hp was much better than it..so i rather get the Asus which seems to get alot of great reviews especially for gaming...with regards to the hard drive i selected that one due to it being a SSHD which suppose to be some hybrid..but it stills boots and stuff rather fast and is cheaper than ssd and i get a lot more storage

lets see

monitor is ok...most guys sell aoc locally which imo works well never had a problem

gtx760 ...its a decent card if you want to buy it locally for a cheaper price this guy is selling one viewtopic.php?f=11&t=575073

however if your pocket is hurting too much then this...its not as powerful but its more affordable and rivals the gtx 660
http://www.amazon.com/Sapphire-Version- ... eywords=r9
and if that's still to expensive for you then once again the r7 260x is the way to go

as for the Kingston HyperX FURY 8GB Kit ...i actually have that exact kit an what i noticed was the prices fluctuated A LOT by the time i was rdy to buy it was like $72....my advice if you can get memory at a cheaper price, get it because i upgraded from a pair of cheap kingston ram an the performance diff is very minimal

almost everyone would say you cant go wrong with an asus motherboard but this also a decent option
http://www.amazon.com/Gigabyte-Intel-6G ... d+LGA+1150

the powersupply...cooler master is a decent brand you can get a 600watt from wizz for $500+ supertech sells thermaltake...i use cooler master myself and honestly the build quality is impressive and its very quiet

that hybrid drive works really well..its not as fast as a ssd but its faster than a normal hdd.. you can always upgrade to a ssd later on when the price is more pocket friendly and use that 1tb for storage

I've never had any luck with Seagate drives. .. Hope you are luckier than I am. I still believe in a boot SSD and magnetic disk for storage. .. If you can't afford a large SSD.
You can probably save money on the graphics card by getting a slightly less powerful one but other than that I have no complaints

Try not to skimp on the case because unless your machine will be living in an air conditioned room 24/7, you're definitely going to need a proper case with good positive airflow, especially when gaming as the GPU will be running hot for hours at a time.

Trying to fixup an old computer here to use as a media center for my TV. Problem is that the onboard video no longer seems to be working. The slot is a PCI-E 1.0 x16 but PCI-E 2.0 is backwards compatible.

Does anyone have a spare PCI x16 card lying around? Just want to test that the slot on the mobo is still working before i waste $ buying one

scored 5875 on firestrike extreme which puts them just above a single r9 290x or gtx 780ti
so it worked out how i had hoped :)
