A/C specialists... advice!!!

Postby haseib786 » July 28th, 2014, 2:37 pm

OK so I have a window unit at for about 4 years now works wonderful now starting to experience some problems, it works but, the coil ices up, so that makes the thermostat trip off the compressor till the ice melts and it comes back on again for 10-15mins and it keeps happening. .. what I have noticed is that the top part of the coily thing is not really cold only the lower part so the unit not even pushing cold breeze.... I hosed it out front and rear and still it persists, before I carry it in to check out, any advice? ???? Thanks alot.....

Those units ice up if they are low on refrigerant charge. Call a house a/c tech to help you out.

You need to clean and service it. Dust clogs the run off and water builds up and freezes. You may also have a leak or a clog where the gas flows.

The unit needs to be gas up. Probably has a leak somewhere as well.

evaporator coil icing usually means that the system is low on gas.an a/c tech needs to check this out for you.it more than likeley needs to be pressure tested first to determine where the leak is..good luck!
