One of Marvel Comics’ most iconic heroes is in for a major change.

The studio announced on “The View” on Tuesday that Thor, the hammer-wielding Norse God of Thunder, would now be a woman.

“It's a huge day in the Marvel Universe,” the show's moderator, Whoopi Goldberg, said. “Thor, the God of Thunder, he messed up, and he's no longer worthy to hold that damn hammer of his. For the first time in history, that hammer is being held by a woman. That's right. Thor is a woman!”

Few details are available at the moment, but Goldberg said that the new, female Thor modeled herself after the original one, as he saved her life. Now, she's the one holding Mjolnir, which makes her the legendary hero.

Talking more about the I.P than anything. A friend pointed out to me Thor was also a frog and was already a woman in Earth X, although to not as much public fanfare as now.

This sorta feels like pandering, but it doesn't bother me. Stopped being able to stomach superhero comics more than a decade now.

It's been socially acceptable years now for men to wear pink anything, denim pedal pushers, ying fitting v-necked t-shirts from Armani Exchange, Aeropostale and Abercrombie & Fitch. This is Marvel's new 'diversity at all costs' thought process.

Apparently, Thor himself has been deemed 'unworthy' to wield Mjolnir, so now it has been passed to this as-yet unkown female to bear the title of God Of Thunder.

I see this as Marvel being unnecessarily 'PC' for the sake of being 'PC'.
They announced this on 'The View' for f@#k's sake. :/

Oh don't you worry... Thor will find himself 'worthy' and get back his title in short order when this asinine decision flops hard at the newsstands.
Mark my words...there will be a very convenient backpedal disguised as a plot twist in future storylines. How long it lasts depends on how well this title sells.
