Spain and barca paid the ultimate price for having no replacement for Puyol. Pique is dog, barthra has a lot of growing to do. Maybe if Puyol had another 2 seasons, he could have probably groomed a few young defenders. And Mascherano, I honestly have so many mixed feelings towards him.

The window still open, so I hope Barca can surprise us with a big anchor defender purchase.

FC Barcelona and Arsenal FC have reached an agreement for the transfer of player Alexis Sánchez to the Premiership club.

FC Barcelona thanks Alexis Sánchez for his professionalism and dedication for the three seasons that he has been in the first team squad, and wishes him all the best for the future.

All the best Alexis.

Barcelona have reached a deal with the Gunners over the Chilean’s transfer, with the Catalan outfit receiving 27.5 million pounds (34.6 million euros) for the 25-year-old.

Barça could also pocket a further three million euros from a series of add-ons included in the agreement. Sánchez will sign a four-year deal with Arsenal.

The clubs could make the transfer official in the coming hours.

Also seems like Cuenca to Deportivo on a free transfer and Does Santos to Villareal for €2mil or thereabouts... Question raised as to Alves' future as well.

As far as signings go, seems as though the Suarez deal is close and apparently we are also in talks with Cuadrado. Still no news on a new midfielder or defender...:x

If we let Xavi and Cesc leave I can't see Rakitic being the only replacement for them. We need another top Class midfielder. With Iniesta/Rakitic/Busquets injured, we basically left with Song.

i think song on the out list too. not sure what happening with xavi.
they banking on inietsa, busi, rakitic, rafinha, roberto, mach. imo roberto and rafinha are very good for squad rotation.
idk what they doing about defence though. i assume they have a plan but they waiting rather long ...

they might most likely try a few from the B team for midfield since you all should know Barca only goes for maybe 1-2 ppl during a transfer

my biggest concern is the defense! we need a good strong central defender with someone smart and quick at RB
We scored 23 more goals than AM but conceded 7 less than us and they won eh!

Mache gonna be needed in the def if we don't sign anyone and I still think Rafinha and Sergi got some development to do. I can't see them deputizing for any of the starting trio with great effect.

IMO Cuadrado is surplus to needs since our forward line is gonna be Neymar/Messi/Suarez with Pedro, Tello, Delefeou and Affellay as back up. That should be money spent in bolstering the back line since his price gonna be a bit inflated after a good showing at the WC.

they making moves. this was posted in the transfers thread...

Barcelona have been trying to find a replacement for Carles Puyol for years, and thought they found it in Frenchman Jeremy Mathieu, but Valencia are unwilling to lower their €20 million asking price, forcing the Blaugrana to look to Totttenham’s Jan Vertonghen and yearly transfer target, Mats Hummels.

According to Catalan-based sports daily, Mundo Deportivo, Barcelona still maintain interest in Mathieu and PSG’s Marquinhos, but are looking at having a ‘Plan B’ which includes Vertonghen and Hummels, two names who have been constantly been linked with Barcelona for the past two summers.

New Barcelona manager, Luis Enrique is adament that he needs two centre-backs to alternate starting alongside Gerard Pique and wants the deals wrapped up in the coming weeks, so that the new players may adapt to the squad and hit the ground running when the season begins.

Barcelona are willing to pay €20 million for the Belgian international Vertonghen and have been tracking the player since his emergence at Ajax, while Hummels, if he does leave Dortmund this summer, it looks to be to Old Trafford to join Louis Van Gaal’s Manchester United.

Along with Vertonghen and Hummels, Barcelona are also said to be interested in Sevilla’s Federico Fazio and Basel’s Fabian Schar.

Hummels> any of the other options.

I doh mind Hummel's alone this year with Bartra as an alternative and give Marquinhous another year to realize he go make it @ PSG.

Liverpool has confirmed that the club has reached an agreement with Barcelona for the transfer of striker Luis Suarez.

The Spanish giant has long been linked with the Uruguayan forward and confirmation of the move came on Friday, with Barcelona saying in a statement on its official website that the Uruguay striker will be in Catalonia next week to put pen to paper on a five-year deal and complete his medical.

Man like he cyah even play a lil FIFA on PS4 without contravening the ban yes....

Barcelona will not be able to present Luis Suarez to the press and public when his transfer from Liverpool is complete.

Suarez's impending £75million move can go ahead in the coming days despite his four-month worldwide ban from all football-related activity.

But FIFA has confirmed the suspension does prevent the kind of welcoming ceremony Barcelona customarily throw for their marquee signings.

Spokeswoman Delia Fischer said: "The ban relates to all football-related activity. He cannot be in a football-related public event irrespective of the venue. He cannot even be involved in a football-related charity event."

Suarez has already failed to have his ban for biting Giorgio Chiellini shortened or overturned by FIFA, but the Uruguay striker's lawyer is planning to take the fight to the Court of Arbitration for Sport.

The court (CAS) can suspend the ban pending an appeal, but Suarez would then run the risk of the entire ban falling within next season.

As it stands he will be available for his new club by the end of October, although Uruguay must do without their star man for nine internationals.

Bid made on Mathieu... Valencia asking Barca to meet his release clause of €20m, but he's already 29 or 30... Good investment, too much money or waste altogether?

For me personally, it's too much for someone who's gonna essentially be a short term solution to our long term "Puyol replacement" problem.
