You should invest in a gopro honda, would make for some amazing vids and pics considering the lovely dives you go on.

Actually looked at one a few days ago in best buys. A few other divers had and was interested but that will mainly be for vids.

Squid came from down the islands. lucky swipe of a net.
i think its feasible to keep them in tanks, but they need a constant supply of gut loaded guppies. raj tell me they just dont last, but if they eating.. i dont see why they shouldnt. real interesting animals.

I guess being the special type of creature it is as a cephalopod makes them extremely sensitive to their environment, probably need a heck of room and stringent water conditions. When i was keeping local caught predator fish, i noticed deep, open water varieties got sick very easily, inshore grunts were amazingly hardy.

It wasn't anything serious, just to get my feet wet with salt as an intro. Mainly small snappers and grunts.

I really wanted some schooling fishes for the tank, ended getting 6 electric blue damsels from Raj. After I got home I looked at some reviews and now I'm having second thoughts about putting them in the tank.
What do you guys think, should I take the chance and put them in the tank.

I love the way they look together but I'm afraid they'll bully the rest of my fishes.

pall I wont advise that...................... damsels don't school. And they should be the last to add. Reason is when they are added and they pick their places as their turf, anything that comes after big or small will see problems.

I second that, I have 2 damsels and I would love to get them out of the tank but that would involve ripping apart my entire tank.
Damsels are very territorial! Been wanting firefish but the damsels would tear them up busy.

Just my experience. ...

^^ Yeah i thought as much, but Raj told me it would have been fine in my aquarium size. Anyway their in one of my sumps for now, i hope he takes them back.

So whats a nice fish to add that schools ?

Chromis school to a point. Its done because in the wild its a predatory instinct. They school cause they are safer in large numbers. Chromis are good to go in your tank its just that after a while they start to pick on the smaller slower one and they eventually kill it. Its better to add a good bit so the picking is shared. In your size tank you can go with like 10-15. After awhile though, they will dwindle down to one. I had 12 in my tank at one time and I would outright see the bullying. They 10X safer than damsels though

I ended up returning the blue damsels to Raj, was going to take a few green/blue chromis but he only had a three or four. So i'll probably wait until he gets about 10-12 or so.

Also, im not sure if this is related to the short addition of the damsel's, my blue tang started acting weird and kind of aggressive, she has something that looks like a little white spec on the black above her right eye and like a small dull white spot or bruise on her lower fin.Is that ich ?

For those who new to the hobby and unaware, you can soak your pumps and other equipment in vinegar to remove coraline easily. Comes off really easy once soaked properly. You can dilute with water 1-1 or vinegar alone.

How do you guys clean your main pumps (in terms of vinegar soak) without affecting your circulation or chiller/temp?

Or do you have a standyby pump when servicing ur main pump?

I soak my powerheads for about 2 hours and leave my main pump running.
After I'll rinse and the run the powerheads in the tank for circulation.
While the power heads are circulating the water in the display tank I soak the main pump for about the same depending on the build up on the impeller.

I used a smaller backup pump while soaking the main pump before but the flow I got from that really doesn't do much for the system.

When the main puml is off just monitor the temp and turn off lights to maintain the water temp.

Thats how I do it, usually every 3-4 months. And also keep a spare impeller for main pump and skimmer just incase.

2 hrs? Ok I thought it had to soak for 24 hrs

Might soak my main pump tomorrow then, because I have a pump soaking in vinegar already so I will put the main pump in to maximize use of the vinegar

Cleaned my mp40 for the first time recently, it looking and working like brand new!

Guys, generally how long does your chiller take to cool down your tank or how long is an acceptable time?
Im believe my chiller is now taking longer than before to cool the tank even with the same equipment.

What are your thoughts?
