They pack a lot of great hardware into their device, then bundle it up with a bunch of gimmicky features and a bloated OS that makes their bleeding fast phone run like a budget phone.
Use a stock S4 then try out a play edition S4. Samsung neutered a great phone.
Ive been converted too. For a long time I hated the plastic phones....I always wanted aluminum, until the 4.7" screens came...plastic builds at that size are just easier to handle and feel less fragile

I think after all this time they've finally figured out how to optimize touchwiz. TheS5 seems to be blazing by all accounts.
Aluminium phones up in size past 4.5inches are nerve wrecking to hold. You always feel like they're about to slip out your hand and kiss the concrete.
I don't mind the plastic in the least.
BrandoHD wrote:I've been reading a common theme in this thread with regards to displays, especially the colours on the Nexus 5, I always see people saying "the Nexus 5 display seems washed out" I just want to jump in to say that this is due to people using poorly calibrated and over-saturated displays that Samsung and now LG has been pushing on consumers over the past few years
So when making comments or giving reviews to others about devices, take into consideration that what you might think is washed out is actually correct, and what you consider to be a "good display" is actually a marketing trick.
RASC wrote:Why Is it unfortunate.
It's unfortunate that the display snobs/ tech crowd don't understand that the will of the people is the will of the people.
I can't stand when they get all uppity.
We do it too with cars... but geez at least car guys don't crucify the masses for buying a Camry over a Supra. Tech ppl want to crucify Susie-Joe from bumfuck nowhere because she like her colours "bright and pretty" on her $199 after 2 year contract phone. Come on man.

This statement is erroneous.
I'm not trying to prove anything. Im simply stating that I dont agree. I dont care what charts, graphs and experts say. The screen is a bit washed out.
rodfarva wrote:RASC agreed.. why unfortunate?
Whats unfortunate is that an 'authority on phone screen accuracy' (lol) decided to TELL people that their opinion is wrong.
I switched from iphone 5 to nexus 5. From minute one, I noticed the screen was less vibrant. But I was so happy with my new purchase that I ignored it. I even got used to it. But everytime I used some other Device - ipad, friends' phones, I would notice the difference.
The 'display authorities' can go on and on forever if they want. Theyre wrong.
Im not a fan of overblown AMOLEDS, but I dont mind a little extra color either.

BrandoHD wrote:It will look less vibrant than the iPhone because the Apple has the best calibrated displays in the mobile space

So then, Apple's calibration > Nexus 5 calibration
by that logic
Apple's display is more vibrant than that on the Nexus 5
and
because Apple's calibration is better, it means that its more 'right'
and
the Nexus appears washed out because its less vibrant than the iPhone
so...we agree.
