BTW anyone here does road rides?

Thinking of getting friends of some sort if I decide on a true Roadie with the aero handles. There is a guy in St Helana who rides to Toco and stuff. But I can't make that since I can barely ride 6 miles lol.
But I noticed the more I ride the easier it becomes and longer I want to go. And someone told me a roadie would be much easier to ride.

Wondering if its possible to ride to maracas lol. Anyone here ever done long rides to the beach and stuff?

I might start off with rides up to caura river first since thats pretty close to Piarco.

Was at Bike Inn today and decided to record the Sportif 2.3 since there is no video on youtube

This bike is $5000 its very tempting. VERY VERY VERY if you ask me. I so close to buying it but I waiting for their next shipment to get my size in the Hybrids.

I just can't decide on true Roadie or Hybrid Roadie. Its just the Drop Low handlebars thats the difference nothing more.

I have not been on the road for a while. But I used to ride from Freeport to Couva by my parents' house at Lisas Gardens - then through Orange Valley to the Temple by the Sea; then back to Freeport.

Once I went through Carlsen Fields to Longdenville by the in-laws, then through Edinburgh 500 to the Southern Main road to Freeport.

It was real therapy to ride because my bike is slow and heavy, but the workout was fantastic

Now I don't have the time and road has become too dangerous. I have a bike rack for the car but I have to find the time to recon a place to ride comfortable.

I love those road bikes. Long distance riding was my vice when I was youngling, I could burn some serious rubber if I ever get my hands on one of those

I could never understand this logic.

If you have to ride pass the beetham I could understand but saying the road too dangerous too ride a bike makes no sense.

More people die from Car accidents in this country than anything else. Especially when they break the red light and you going in your armored car or what you feel is armored compared to a bike anyways.

A bike is actually safer because you could dive in a drain or something to save yourself. Chances are if a man run off the road and bounce you, you would get pitch off the bike or pitch forward in a safer spot than being compressed inside a car and needing the Jaws of Life after you bleed to death.

Hell I know someone who bought a new car and he get bounced down crossing the road after he park up the car because a man break a red light on the bus route.

So I got my new Bike today I went down St James by mikes bikes.

Its a Giant Revel 3. Pretty sweet bike it was $2700 but I asked Michael for a discount and he was nice enough to give me it for $2550.

He had this hot white chick who works there I think she is also a bike mechanic aswell. Tamiko Buttler is her name she is some cyclist gold medal winner for the Caribbean I believe. She was pretty bess to say the least.

Anyways I really love this bike it has street tires. Not pure street but like a mixture of offroad and street however if you look at it, geared a lot more towards asphalt.

Could not afford the $5k road bike anymore plus I too fat for roadies anyways but at the same time I didn't want a crappy steel frame 3rd world bike neither. And this GIANT fit the bill quite lovely even has Alloy rims with stainless steel spokes just like those expensive bikes. Everything is aluminum. And as an added bonus I got my Linear pull V brake which is all I need for my road use

don't buy anything from performancebike.com if u intend to use a skybox......they will not ship to freight forwarders....i had to file an official complaint to get my money back. they accepted my order, then refused to ship to the address i wanted it shipped to, and then would only offer an instore credit after canceling the order. I called and shouted over the phone (which i never do) with about 3 or 4 people......in the end i gave up and called it a loss, only to be contacted 2 weeks later saying they will give me back my money minus 15%...since then its only competitivecyclist.com (owned by backcountry.com) and jesonusa.com......i hardly ever use other sites.....

They claim they dont send to freight forwarders in the past because of some magical issue they had, so I said yeah too bad for you having issues even though I using amazon for 7 years and never one issue after eve 200 items shipped.

Then they say they will ship it for me but they will do it direct. I say nah fck off because I had issues in the past with companies doing international shipping to TTPOST and stuff and it sometimes take 6 months to reach.

BTW did you file a complaint to the local bank in Trinidad to get back your money?
Your experiences with Jenson USA? and how much so does it cost from a skybox to ship a 18 inch or so bike to Trinidad? I am assuming its $700 TT maybe?

anyways i gonna buy a mountain bike from bike inn in a couple weeks or when their new shipment of 26" bikes comes in. After talking to both the short rasta dude there and michael phillips i learnt enough to make an informed decision about which bike i should role with. So since giant makes almost everyone's frames ill go with the fuji nevada with disc brakes in front and the lock off front suspension. And if i want to ride road i can change the wheels on it too and roll with that. The bike should cost between 32-3500. I just need to get a good bike rack after that.

This is a long read but I think you should read everything I have to write it will greatly help you.

Bike inn is a good place to buy a bike. Service at Mikes is no better than Bike Inn, its a small country and you must expect same service anywhere you go, to think otherwise is stupid. I personally would stay away from Geronimo, not because of service experience or anything like that but because of their attitude and Trek's ridiculous high prices.

However if you were smart and read anything I had posted for the 1 millionth time on this thread you would very well know to NEVER buy anything or take any advice from that same short rasta.

He is the same moron who assembled the nevada 1.6 29er and said nothing wrong with the brake pad locking on the rotors it will "Break in" soon. He was trying to impress me by showing me how fast he could mount up a bike in record time.

If you were smart and read anything I have posted you would buy only when Jerrad is there he is the tall kinda fair rasta fella. Now he is a boss and knows about bikes. He was the only one capable of fixing my nevada hydraulic problems, and where the dot 4 fluid corroded the paint he polished it and repainted it back like new.

He changed my pedals for free when I break it with my fat arse and he gave me superior ones free without even asking. Jerrad took my bike out in the roads and tested it himself before giving me it back to ensure all issues were looked at. The guy is genuine and the only person I could recommend there. The rest are clueless to say the least. So be very careful of what bike you buying with that short rasta fella.

I gave up waiting for stocks they telling me 2 weeks since last year and up till now that 2 weeks eh reach yet LOL. But the girl say the new container is coming loaded with Fuji Absolute.

be smart, buy the Fuji Absolute like say 2.1 series "you can't be serious about buying a Hardtail MTB for trails for such a cheap price". the absolute 2.1 Its a true beauty and they are the first to be sold she has a book with people who has already placed orders and have their name put down where they will keep it for them, and those absolute much easier to ride on asphalt being a hybrid the tires are 38mm which is much thicker than 25mm racers but way thinner than the fat bad slow 2.2 inch on the nevadas.

Fuji is notorious for using cheapo rims and brakes. Vera for example is from neverland, no one has ever heard of that and nothing can be found on google about it. Same with Axis Classic from Specialized.

Even after Jerrad de-tensioned my Spokes on my nevada 3 times it still came lose. Its an identical problem with Oval Concepts rims they detension easily (if thats even a real word) "fuji is the parent company of Oval Concept". but you get the point. the spokes never stay tight, 29ers has more flex when you talking cheap rims.

So you on the right track buying a 26 inch wheel. GIANT makes frames for FUJI, but thats about it.
My experience with this GIANT is remarkable. I just took it out for another round of abuse on dirt and rough asphalt and the rims refuse to bend, they still straight.

Michael Phillip didn't know about the hand made rims vs machine built ones, the grasping of the spokes HARD with your hands to release the tension and then checking for out of true to avoid the wheels bending again. When I told him and he didn't know about it I knew I was getting a factory rim here where I had to count on GIANT's reputation in doing this from the factory. I was in luck, the rims being original Giant rims are hand made. Fuji rims are machine built.

All these bikes are the same, shimano components etc with just the frame being branded by a manufacturer. Giant however has rims atleast 1 million times better than the rest of no name rims from neverland. Thats the main difference with a company who chooses to do most things themselves so they can have better quality control rather than outsource to save money.

Also watch your @ss with them neverland disk brakes in those new Fuji bikes for $3200.

^ Mikes Bikes has the same one I bought maybe he would give you for the same $2550. He had 1 more in stock. I am wonderfully pleased with it.

Your other option is Bike inn, you must wait for stocks. Fuji and Giant are both great bikes, however you get better value for your money with GIANT. You may also check out the video I made and posted maybe it will help you decide better.

an idiot in the bank told me i have to sort it out myself.....which is not true....the idiot just didnt know what to do.....
i sent a letter to performancebike....i suspect that is how i ended up getting my money back.....

i shipped a gt sensor from jensonusa.....freight and fuel were $100us, package was a feather under 45lbs.
i have had nothing but excellent experiences with jensonusa.....price matches, wide variety and lots of sales......i bought parts, gear, a bike and many tools from them.....i had warranty claims and they sorted me out as well.
competitive cyclist is also extremely good.....my yeti asr7 frame came from them, and when i returned it months later in favour of an ibis mojo hd frame, that went very smoothly....i took that bike out for a ride today and its still as smooth as the day i first rode it



as for local bike shops.....a really bad experience at mike's bikes with regards to customer service and simple courtesy was enough for me to never ever go back there.........Geronimo's has been good to me for sales of parts and tools and advice (i rarely go there, but its usually a good experience)....bike inn south has done some repairs and tuning for me. 98% of the time at bike inn was positive...had an issue once, but the person causing the problem no longer works there......

^ nice to know man. This is good info for all of us I have been saying all them local bike shops is the same crap, none of them understand basic logic behind the design and engineering of bikes. When I went in mikes was the same thing they tried to get me out quick as possible and they didn't give me more than 3 minutes of their time.

They tell me some crap about warranty and 3 free services like when cable stretch etc.
Mikes does assemble the bikes proper, but they got a bit too far like putting grease inside the saddle pole where it connects to the frame via the quick release. Come on nah jed this is aluminum its retarded to put grease there and ontop of that it can cause the seat pole to slide down when u sit on it I had to clean it myself.

But I didn't care about it and all I wanted was this particular bike, they had it and gave me my discount with a couple freebies and I walked out smiling "note you cah get one fack in stock at bike inn so whereever I got my bike I take it and run". I know I never going back there for a very long time thats quite St James who the heck going so far unless you from down that side. Any issues I going right bike inn in Tunapuna with this same Giant.

But I get smart I does call and ask if Jerrad there first. Its always best to learn to do things yourself first though. Thats why I bought this particular bike, no brake fluid and I can handle everything myself. Will reward myself with a roadie in a few years when I get slim.
