Brethrens need advice on what engine to put in 02' sportage

I have a 2002 kia sportage 4*4 with a twin cam rear drive type engine. Engine overheated badly and unfortunately parts price in the company just crazy. looking for a simple replacement. Was thinking about a sr20 engine and tranny rear. What you guys think. Anyone also had the similar experience.....

i have looked in the bamboo for that model sportage and found no lock.
you have any idea where i could get one?

Nah a 4g4c i think its d tucson engine cud wrk, also u cud get the traget engine to work.
On the parts forum "master" i think had d complete set up for small $$$

I have seen a couple people convert to diesel with the Mazda Rf model diesel engines that came from the B1600 or the B2200 pickups i think. The engine goes in bolt for bolt on the Sportage transmission and lines up on the original engine mounts as well. So i guess by that logic you could look for a motor in the mazda line in gas or diesel?
