WTK : Good tonic for night shift workers

Postby jsr » February 6th, 2014, 11:14 pm

What is a good tonic or multi-vitamin suppliment for night shift workers. Understand loss of night sleep takes a serious toll .

Sleep...if u could get at least 1 solid hour uninterrupted. I drink lots of water as well and that works for me.

no amount of vitamins could have you feeling good after a night shift/rotation. it isn't natural to mess with your circadian rhythm

(worked shift for 3 yrs)

Working shift in the aviation industry over 11 years..working right now actually.....rest well, eat healthy and be sure to exercise. Take some stuff to work like granola bars, oats, fruits, water, green tea etc. a couple snacks wont hurt. Stay away from energy drinks. No boozing before work. It will take a while for ur body to get accustom. Work smart my lad

as Reamos said. & make sure to get at least 6-7 hrs sleep soon as you get home.
That & keeping yuh stress levels low is the key to surviving long term night shift work.

Multi Vitamin - Anavite(currently taking this, works well) or Opti-men(these are more bodybuilding oriented supps but will help) , also consider getting some fish oils in

Man i wish i had a job like this, real fedup of dealing with idiots daily, traffic, heat ect.

^^this...two years on night work straight right now, anavite, spaced out small meals, exercise and lots of water. Its more difficult to sleep during the daytime but a good 4-6 hours is good, especially if you can pick up 1 or two just before work.
cod liver oil is great too.

Hardest thing for me is to actually get sleep before a night shift. Like now, work for 10 and I can't fall asleep yet : /

Strange enough, rest is the best way to deal with night shift. The problem is that not everybody who work nights can sleep well in the day...so they also "rest" in work
