First my 18-55 was tripping balls and stopped autofocusing, so I purchased a 28-135 from reynold. Good lens, lovely to travel with for nice scenery and city shots.

I think the onboard flash may be slowing down my shooting. When I'm using flash or low light, I find the shutter speed is slw and sometimes the camera just says busy and I have to either wait or refocus/rezoom to get it to capture.

Never been serviced since purchased btw.

Gents, some tips or advice in shooting welcomed.

Take a look at my hobby blog (cooking)
www.tastumgoodum.com
Most of the more recent pix, (from about May 2013) were done using my new lens
http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/1 ... _6_IS.html

I mostly still use the preset modes on the Digital rebel XS, only cause I eh know wtf I doing. Most come out pretty ok.
Please critique the photography, the site gets a lot of local and international traffic now so I want to up my game to look the part, even though it is purely a hobby.

Usually this would be the place where I would offer my tutorial services, but I think a read of the manual would clear up why those things are happening on the scene modes. For low light your best friend is a tripod. If you want to hand hold in low light, you need a fast prime.

Shot with my iPhone. Lighting took a half hour to set up though.

Been a while since i posted. Thinking about getting the Canon EF 70-200mm f/2.8L USM and the 24-105 f/4 L IS USM to replace my current two kit lens.
Any of you guys own any of those? what do you think?

Both great choices and almost full range of coverage. Can't go wrong with L series. I have the 70-200 f4 is and I absolutely love it.

Love your shots mr kessy!

I own the 24-105. Its totally worth it (and more) at the current price point. I find nothing wrong with it at all, and I love it for its strength of consistent aperture. My only thing, as my friend DVSTT would agree is that I wish it came as f/2.8. There's the 24-70 f/2.8 which is very expensive and you could consider it as ideal to match your 70-200. Personally I think that 24-105 is already overlapping into 70-200 but the latter is f/2.8. But if it suits your needs, by all means buy it, I doubt you will regret it.

As an option to the canon 70-200, maybe take a look at the Sigma equivalent and save some cash.

I am looking as well for the same. Hoya and B+W are highly recommended.

I think multi coated glass filters are the best
