AMID reports of growing anger and threats of boycotting TT goods in Jamaica, after 12 nationals of that country were last week barred from entering this country, comes startling revelations from the National Security Minister that close to 16,958 Jamaican nationals are staying illegally in Trinidad and Tobago as their entry certificates have expired.

Yes, PNM brought them here in the late 1950s to soak up some votes.
Why do you think PNM pushes this caricom thing so hard.

wow thats cheap......or is it in USD.....which still is cheap

to do the same in the USA it will cost them $500k USD

no wonder they making a pit stop here. Make a mint learn english and ride out to the states after a few years.

That bond that they pay is to cover their return home fare in cases they have run ins with the law.
Illegal Caricom nationals have Diddy chit and tax payers have to bare the cost to send them home.

They have a very effective chinese association that takes care of those things. Nearly all chinese shops are owned by their associations, they are just workers . Only trini chinese own their own businesses.

well Crackpot, all 17000 are CRIMINALS, they are here illegally, which means they are breaking the law, which in turn makes it a crime therefore they are classified as CRIMINALS

The CCJ recently ruled in the Shanique Myrie case that where a Caricom national was refused entry into a member state that national should be allowed to consult an attorney or consular official or to contact a family member.

This didn't happen.

Flow is Jamaican? Last I knew they were incorporated in Barbados for tax purposes, however by far the bulk of their operations happen in the USA.

The Jamaican born Michael Lee-Chin (arguably the richest man in the Caribbean) cofounded and has a major stake in Columbus Communications.

Real developed countries don't seek to run out all their undocumented workers. Undocumented workers play a vital force in a country's economy. The country's ability to attract the most motivated, hard working, and ambitious foreigners speaks to the success of that economy. Inasmuch as we might have 17000 illegal Jamaicans here, along with Leeward Islanders, South Americans, Africans and Indians, if we "send them back" our economy will take a nose dive.

We should be moving to naturalise them, not evict. And if you disagree with me, pick up the phone now and call your relatives who are illegal abroad in US, Canada and UK and tell them to come home NOW and you will be no longer receiving gifts from them.
