fellas just an update on the tank:

left it for a couple days again while 'blacking it out' using garbage bags.
it started clearing up after 2 days and it is completely cleared now.

it looks like i've done a 100% wc in the tanks.

thanks for the advice.

Sigh. Trinidad rel sad. A few months ago I bought some "tiger oscar" fry. Now I fully didn't expect the best of the best in terms of quality but I at least expected some "tiger" in there. Now couple months passed and I'm starting to wonder when the nice orange pigmentation gona start showing. Well it never did.

Went back to the pet store I got them and saw some older oscars which seemed to be from the same breeding. They look exactly like wild oscars eg.

So the question is, has anyone seen any oscars down here with a similar look to this? If so where can I get them?

What are you feeding them? Foods with higher beta carotene content help in bringing out red-based colours in fish. Try some shrimp in their diet and see if that helps somewhat.

Also, locally there is a distinction between "tiger" oscars and "red tiger" oscars. Don't see much of the latter in pet shops.

lol. well I'm aware of wild Oscars, tiger Oscars and red Oscars. The red ones have black head and fins and total red on the body

Anyone ever tried artificial hatching/raising discus fry? Finally got one of the pairs spawns to hatch in rainwater, but they ate the fry before free swimming stage. They just put down a big clutch of eggs again and I want to try the artificial method.

Any tips?
