Yeah in an entire multimillion dollar construction site, Rowley saw it fit to steal a $1000 load of aggregate and have it delivered to his wife's site.

This not an attempt to paint any party as lily white, far from it. The initial post was a response to the notion that another political party could have done better than the PNM. However, as bad as the PNM is, somehow the alternatives never appear to amount to anything better :(

Roger that! I can sleep easier now knowing that the EastIndianess of our area has been preserved for another term

I am just wondering, what do PNM supporters vote for? Clearly it is not about performance. The people of Point Fortin and environs have suffered with water woes since independence. Under this administration, a water desalination plant was completed on time and budget in Point Fortin. They have now moved from a 24/1 and 24/2 supply to 24/5 and 24/7 supply respectively.

The borough has for years complained of poor roads and inadequate infrastructure. They are getting the highway as well.

What do PNM supporters vote for? It is clearly not for representation or performance.

What has the PNM done for east PoS?

Yeah I applaud the PP for the desal plant. But Point Fortin residents might still be also grateful for the PNM establishing one of the world's biggest methanol plants in their area and the prosperous jobs that come with it. But like Tobago and Chaguanas, the election was meant to also send a signal to the gov't that it is being rejected. Many like to lump ILP and PP votes against the PNM, but ILP and PNM are both votes against the PP and its governance

Well they were trying despite the UNC best efforts against it.
Ramesh backs East PoS residents

BY CAROL MATROO

Former Attorney General Ramesh Lawrence Maharaj has slammed the Government for using what he sees as an ancient act to remove residents living in East Dry River, Port-of-Spain.
Maharaj met yesterday with a small group of residents at Duncan Street, PoS, to discuss their impending eviction.
The former AG said the Government was trying to use No 41 (1938) of the Slum Act to remove the residents, some of whom have been living there since 1946.
This was all part of the Housing Ministry’s plan to refurbish all government apartment buildings in PoS.

“Government has declared this a slum area and are going through a process to declare it a slum clearance area in which they can then come and demolish if it becomes necessary,” Maharaj said.
He noted that although a government can have a discretionary power, the fact remained that if it was not a slum area, or if it did not satisfy the criteria of the act, it was illegal to do it.
Maharaj said he had never heard of the Slum Act being enforced in T&T.
He said it was an ancient act in the days when there were barracks in the country.

“What Government has done is resuscitate an ancient act to find a way to get rid of the residents, so they can get the land for their friends,” he said.
After a brief tour of the area, Maharaj said he had been to worse places.
“There are no cracks on the beams, the buildings have stood up for over 60 years and are still firm.
“Some buildings need repairs and that is wear and tear, but it cannot be declared slum by any stretch of the imagination,” Maharaj said.
