ITCZ TO AFFECT TRINIDAD AND TOBAGO OVERNIGHT INTO
TOMORROW
Weather associated with the Inter Tropical
Covergence Zone (ITCZ) is situated to the
southeast of Trinidad and Tobago. The ITCZ will
begin to affect the islands with increasing wind
speeds and cloudiness as the night progresses and
continuing into tomorrow.
Numerical Weather Prediction Model (NWP) predicts
an increase in wind speeds and cloudy conditions
with periods of rain and/or showers, some of
which can be moderate to heavy and thundery at
times. These conditions are expected to begin to
affect Trinidad before Tobago. Gradual
improvement is expected towards evening on Monday
30th September 2013.
Gusty winds in excess of 45km/h are likely and the
possibility of localized street and flash flooding
may occur in the vicinity of heavy showers and
thundershowers. Given the expected conditions,
citizens are therefore advised to be vigiliant
and cautious as they conduct their activities and
to pay attention to daily public weather forecasts
issued at 6am, 10am, 3pm and 5.30pm.
We wish to underscore that at this time Trinidad
and Tobago is not under any Tropical Storm
threat, Watch or Warning.
The Trinidad and Tobago Meteorological Service
will continue to closely monitor this system and
will issue another bulletin if the situation
warrants.
