Great thread, I'm new to photography. Recently got a canon T3 and 2 lenses, a 24 -85 f3.5 to 5.6 and an 80 -200 f4 to 5.6, which is soft all through its range. I haven't done any courses but i try to read as much as possible. My editing is limited to cropping, I recently downloaded Gimp and am now trying to learn it.

Dharin, more often than not, i'll light my stuff but when you have a large window with ideal directional light coming through, i.e 7-8am. It's all you really need. Look at the shadows on the plate, main light is the window. Moving alot more towards using natural light than flash these days. Those were taken with my 50 mm manual pancake.(old nikon film lens) and it was dodge and burn,shadow/highlights layers to lighten up the shadows and spruce the highlights. Think i over sharpened a bit as well, always do that when i edit on my crt desktop than my laptop. Need a new monitor lol.

For some reason, when I resize the image for upload, it comes out looking terribly over sharpened :/.

It's called the star spider. I found several them in a garden at a house in Tobago. These were smaller than a ten-cent piece, so I used extension tubes to get closer. I used my 55-250mm at full zoom from 3-4ft away, as watching the spider emerge from its shell was freaky and this was the first I was ever seeing this species.

- probably just me, but I definitely found myself letting the 50 stay at home when I'm out now. A couple stops of light may have been an issue before but I got used to it.

I admit it is difficult at times especially moving from the the 50mm 1.8 which was practically glued to my camera but recently fell in love with the 70-200 f4 is. its razor sharp.
