Abidal says farewell to Barcelona

Eric Abidal is to leave Barcelona this summer as the club have not offered him a new contract and he still feels he can contribute as a player at the top level.

He has made four senior appearances since getting a medical all-clear to resume playing, but the club have decided against renewing his deal, which ends in June.

Luis Suarez confirms he wants to leave Liverpool: "My reason for leaving is not the money. I don't feel comfortable here any more.

It is a difficult moment for me, my coach and my colleagues know that they (the media) didn't treat me well.

Because of the paparazzi I could not go in my garden, I could not go to the supermarket.

Not surprisingly, some Liverpool fans haven't taken the news well thus far. According to Ed Malyon of Mirror, one disgruntled Reds fan posted a photo of Suarez's No. 7 jersey in flames.

Arsenal have agreed to sign striker Gonzalo Higuain to a £150,000-a-week deal after agreeing on a £22 million transfer fee with Real Madrid, reports David Kent of the Daily Mail.

At 25, he should just be starting to enter his peak seasons, which was another reason the transfer made sense for both sides, especially Arsenal. He can showcase his talents, and the club can look forward to top-tier production for the duration of the deal.

Expect big things from Higuain moving forward.

Good luck Pipita

Serie A champions Juventus have reportedly acquired Manchester City forward Carlos Tevez for a transfer fee of €9 million.

The striker will not turn 30 until February, but City was already his third EPL club. Perhaps a change of scenery is just what Tevez needs to avoid any potential controversy.

The deal is set to bring Barça a maximum of 5.1 million Euros, with 2.1 due this season, 2 more if Villa stays at Atletico next year and another million should he be at the Madrid club the season after. Barça also reserve the right to 50% of any sell on fee in the future.

Real Madrid have agreed to sign Spain Under-21 midfielder Asier Illarramendi from Real Sociedad, the two clubs have confirmed. (Xabi Alonso replacement)

The Basque club's president, Jokin Aperribay, told a press conference that Real had deposited the €38 million demanded in Illarramendi’s buyout clause with the Spanish Football League.

Real, meanwhile, said the 23-year-old had agreed a six-year contract and would be presented as their player on Saturday.

Napoli have completed the signing of striker Jose Callejon from Real Madrid on a four-year deal.Callejon traveled to Italy earlier this week to undergo his medical and the 26-year-old has now put pen to paper on a four-year contract with Rafael Benitez's side. Neither club have officially confirmed how much the deal is worth but reports in Italy suggest Napoli have agreed to pay Real 10 million euros for the former Spain Under-21 international.

Manchester United boss David Moyes certainly hasn't wasted any time. Less than 24 hours after Bayern Munich pipped the Red Devils to Thiago's signature, United have returned to Barcelona in an attempt to plunder their midfield for another player, Cesc Fabregas.

Fabregas moved to Barca from Arsenal at a cost of €29 million just two years ago. United have put an offer of €30 million on the table to bring him back to the Premier League.

Manchester United fans can stop dreaming and Real Madrid fans can start breathing again. ABC Madrid are reporting that Cristiano Ronaldo has sold his house in Manchester, all but confirming he will not be signing for the Red Devils. Either that or he just wants a better house.
