AllTrac wrote:if its one thing I would say, its verrry hard for a villain to make the audience see things his way and to actually make you see why Zod would have that mindset of what he is doing is right. Micheal Shannon pulled that off, he gave me the feeling that he put his people first and superman abandoned his civilization and everyone that died was for the greater good.

but to each his own.

Exactly so. Villains are very hard to pull off and Shannon made that role his own. In the interviews when ppl referred to Zod as the villain he would say that it wasnt so in his opinion. It was more of a desperate citizen, a leader, a general, doing what was necessary for the greater good of his kind. He embodied that perfectly and made the audience empathize with him. How many villains could really pull that off? You was rooting for Joker to kill everyone? Not me. Its not a comparison of the 2 entire characters eh, just drawing a reference there.

Alot of ppl may not receive this movie well because the 2 biggest leads are relative unknowns. Shannon has a more established career than Henry tho, and alot of ppl have respect for him. Even while on set of MoS, they were like this Shannon guy is scary as hell, the way he took his role so seriously (plus he just looks like that in general lol) and then the next minute he was the nicest guy.

@ the vid above - I hope the rumors about a 2014 release of MoS and then 2015 for JLA are false. Yeah they trying to keep up with marvel but thats just ridiculous. Doomsday would be awsummm 8-) It was Goyer I think said that their Lex will be a different one from previous versions.

This is Goyer talking a bit about Lex -

In an interview with BleedingCool, Goyer claims that the challenges facing Superman are much closer to home:

“The challenge for us moving forward is how to depict Superman in a world like this, in a world where Twitter exists, in a world with social media. To me, the interesting challenge is “Could he solve hunger in the horn of Africa? What would he do with the Arab Spring? What would he do in Syria?… Does he have the wherewithal or the knowledge to intervene in something like this?”

To me, that’s the interesting challenge. It’s easier for Batman because he just exists in this little pocket of the world, he’s not violating sovereign airspace every day.”

As for which villain will be next to test Superman’s resolve…

“There is musing about Lex Luthor, conversations that Zack and I have had on set, but it all depends on what happens over the next month. There are obviously those Lexcorp easter eggs in the film and clearly you can see from that, to the extent to which we can intuit things about Lex, it’s not the Gene Hackman version. This is a Bill Gates-like Lex that is probably worth 50, 60, 70 billion dollars. It’s a very different Lex.”

I thought they would have delved into the suit itself a bit more but it wasnt so :(

Yea this was kinda strange. I guess the fact that Jor El’s consciousness was there means he is at least 18,000 years old?? Even if that’s the case, how did it know about stuff that happened on Krypton 33 years ago?

jor el's consciousness was on the key gadget that clark came with. he only appeared when the gadget was place into the holes of ships and was uploaded to the ship's mainframe.

The ship could have made the suit in the same way russel crowe made the key in his ship.

Movie was Great imo.

Heard rumours that Joaquin Pheonix could possibly play Lex Luthor in upcoming films.. That could possibly be even more epic than Michael Shannon's Zod.

Oh, it will... That's one intense mofo. Hope it's true.

Soul Collector wrote:They didnt even talk about it :(

You want the movie to be 4hrs long?

That's one of my complaints actually. They tried to cover too much ground in one movie... So you'd find that things that could/should have been explained/explored had to be left alone.

I dunno, i thought Lois and Superman's relationship progressed too fast. But i guess they had no choice, given the movie length. Overall, enjoyed it though.

same here, thats one thing that they could of slowly played out over the up coming sequels, but i think there are major things they wanted to portray from the comic book story line in this Man of Steel and I get the feeling that the later sequels story line is gonna be new and fresh and probably deviate from the comic book story line

Movie was great IMO. It had its flaws (obviously) but it was still a great reboot. Plus there were MANY nods to the original mythos of the character, both from the comics & films.

nah there was- parts of it u definitely see depth-unless u wanted ting flying out at u and havin tuh duck

but yes filming it in 3d better than postconversion according to James Cameron unless u really take your time to convert it (which he had to do with titanic)

Was great, I hope they don't introduce Lex Luthor in the sequel. He's the most uninteresting villain ever put up against Superman.

Meem duck from nothing there....the most 3d effective shot IMo was the scene with the twister

I'm a big fan of the superman character.....and whilst I enjoyed the movie which was very entertaining, the subtle variations to the storyline was big no no for me. Zod was not released because Krypton was destroyed. There was no "ship" as a prison. Jonathon did not die like that, and Zod is not killed. Alongside of the poor character building of Lois, the movie was ok.

If I was not a fan tho.....this movie was fantastic!

I also saw it in imax twice, 3d and 2d and personally found the 3d version to visual look a lot better IMO
