Need some serious suggestions/advice (car transfer)

Postby Ray Laks » May 4th, 2013, 10:04 am

About 18 months ago, a friend made an error in judgement and bought a vehicle from somone who was not the registered owner. The seller promised to arrange to have the registered owner transfer the vehicle to my friend. Since then she has be getting a lot of running around and excuses from the seller. He has stopped answering her calls. She wants to have the vehicle transferred in her name. I was thinking of asking her to report it to the police. Any serious suggestions/ advice would be appreciated.

was it one of those used car places?
if so, they accustomed to promising they would get in contact with the owner and transfer is no problem when in fact they prob never see the owner since they bought it and don't even know if they alive or migrated.
not all of them like that but you have to be real careful of the conmen.

Thanks folks. It's not Sheron's but an individual. I know that a vehicle must be transferred within 7 days of purchase. I was wondering if the person who sold a vehicle that did not belong to him could be charged with fraud.
