I have written an Android App to monitor the GPS/GSM Tracking Units in Vehicles using SMS Texts and Google Maps and I wondering if anyone would be interested in field-testing it. The device I've been testing it on is a Samsung Galaxy S3. How it works is the App sends an SMS Text to the Tracker "000000MAP" and when the Tracker responds with the SMS URL "http://maps.google.com..." the App automatically shows the received location on a Google Map screen as well as the location of the user so the user can track the vehicle in real-time with a bearing and distance. Lat/Long & UTM E,N co-ordinates are also displayed. The App can also be used to exchange locations between Android phones with GPS Receivers & Google Maps. I used the command "000000MAP" because that's the one provided by GPS Experts near LC Mall but the App can be modified for other systems if/when I get some positive feedback.
