i remember one such tech asking me a similar question at supertech when i told him what the problem was. when he troubleshoot it and find out i was right after trying to make me look like an ass which i calmly took. he was promptly fired!

so if anyone knows, how do i upgrade it then? Via software and jailbreak? Also, is it possible to factory unlock the iphone 5 via software? I guessing it would depend on the carrier it locked to and the version and baseband i think

i dunno how yall put up with all them dramas with iphone. android unlock and root with 2 clicks and install all the free software u want. shutdown reboot.. still there. i just seein the dramas to unlock a 3gs i have here. owner update to 6.1 himself. cant use the untethered hack cuz it have to activate first. i tell him it make no sense doing a tethered jailbreak because is only pain with that every time the phone powers off. so now it seems he still have to activate with a gevey or other and who knows what other pains the untethered jb comes with. i dont even really want to know, if the fone was mine i wouldve give it away.

impressive yeh its almost impossible to jb iphones i just cant figure out where to click.

Most of the locals iPhones that are i4's and 3GS are AT&T and can be unlocked.
I don't see why people going through the headache of buying these locked/gevey/SAM/whatever "hacktivated" stuff when there are the legit avenues.

P.S. The jailbreak was also released for 6.1 actually all devices that are on 6.0.1 to 6.1(.1) can be jailbroken. (except AppleTV3)

P.P.S. Slacker, find out where the iPhone from. I don't believe i heard of a working reputable gevey sim unlock of the i5. And then read my first line of this post.

well, i got a gevey unlocked phone for a great price, to me price was a big factor since im on student budget lol and if there are ways to unlock it, i will do it

And try something like iTools (Parvin would say so too ) xtech posted it a while back. But also, if no sim is in it, it the about section you should see the carrier like "AT&T 14.0" or something.
