Was running Cyanogenmod 10.1
NO "PIRATE" APPS ON IT.

3 months old should still be under warranty.

Samsung rolls out Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean update for the Galaxy S II GT-I9100
You might not be able to update your device to Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean right away as the update is rolling out in phases.

http://androidadn.com/2013/01/samsung-r ... to-fix-it/

Some speculated that the problem was due to defects in the motherboard of the terminals of May, June and July that generated them from being killed after 150-180 days of use, while others blamed the NAND memory device and charger . The worst part was that it was not possible to establish a pattern and that sudden death affected root user, not root, to those with factory ROMs, cooked ROMs, etc..

The number of people affected grew daily and Samsung was silent about it, but finally spoke. A few days ago, a company spokesman said that would correct the failure soon and today the Korean company has officially acknowledged the problem.

It is a problem with the wear leveller, the firmware that resides on the actual eMMC chip, it's a variation of the issue that exists on the S2, Note 1 and the Galaxy Nexus

They released a "fix" in the "update 7" kernel sources probably 2 weeks ago which was then implemented into the popular custom kernels, so people who are running custom kernels have had that fix for that time, the memory exploit was also fixed in those sources.

The patch checks for the firmware revision and the date of the eMMC chip and is applied on every boot to the affected eMMC chips.

Hence the release of all these new firmwares with all the necessary fixes applied to the stock kernels

Anyone with a s3 can comment on how easy is the screen to break?

A good case should be good enough right?

It's fairly sturdy and scratch resistant but of course.. If something hit it hard enough and in the right spot, it will shatter. It's not sensitive to say it shatters easily though.

How old was that nightly you were running, haven't been following CM development lately, but they should have implemented the fix in there kernels and recoveries already

Had the phone charging the night before and it started vibrating in d middle of d night saying that the battery low (while the charger was plugged in) so i did a batt pull and put it back to charge. The next morning, the screen froze and i did a battery pull cuz none of the keys were working but the phone never turned back on.

Was running a cm nightly no more than a month old.

Sent it back to bmobile to let them sort it out.

Good, let them deal with it, at this point. we can't even be sure your battery has power as you have already sent it in, one note though, if your phone freezes for any reason, just hold the power button till it reboots, sometimes pulling the battery may cause data corruption or it may cause the device to boot up in safe mode

Holding the power button reboots the device

Lawd, hmmm, then if you were running an old build, which probably didn't have the fixes, you may have suffered the SDS

Period kind of short though, usually it happens due to a lot of I/O reads/writes, well hopefully bmobile fixes it
