a friend of mine recently give birth to a healthy baby in medical associates, about a month ago

this was after Grande hospital told her to come back in 3 days for an ultrasound because "yuh eh ready yuh..we eh know why u come here for"

although her private doctor had told her there was hardly any amniotic fluid left and the baby should be delivered immediately.

so she went medical associates and paid $14,000 to deliver the child/room for the night.

i wouldn't put more faith in public hospitals than private hospitals.

i always find that for healthcare in Trinidad, you hadda have some family or friend actively seeking your interest and making sure that whoever doing what, know what they doing.

This sparked some spirited discussion amongst the doctors and non-doctors in my family. Plus my cousin in Mt Hope for the last two days waiting to have a baby. Her water bag broke two days ago but she hasnt delivered yet. These type of things happen too frequently and we need specific legislation to hold people accountable. Only then will these instances be reduced. Stay strong for your family's sake.

Some of my cousins just left! It's like we just can't come to terms with her lost!

Condolences. Just goes to show the state of our medical facilties.

Your family should take some counselling. If your company has EAP services, you should utilize that. Alternatively there are some decent counselors locally. Dr Waveney Richards and Netsanet Amare are two names that come to mind. They both operate in woodbrook and specialize in family and trauma counselling.

200sx and Damien: This is really, really hard. There is nothing anyone can say at this time that can ease the pain. My sincerest condolences and try to focus on one day at a time. The immediate future will not be easy.

In spite of all the heartbreak and sorrow, God's true purpose will be revealed to you in time.

In our human limitations, you just have to trust God and ask him for the strength to handle this situation.

In time, you will see how God's help came with a grace and understanding that you may not necessarily see right now.

really sad. this has me really bothered since hearing about it. this morning me and some ppl were arguing about what passes for health care in this country and that nothing ever comes from it. that this same institution has a reputation for killing ppl. Nothing has come out of the last mother from Couva who died at San Fernando General after a c-section as well. the govt needs to hold someone accountable because ppl losing their lives because of negligence and doctors never go against their own. this even more sad now seeing that is part of the tuner family.
