Great circuit, I really like when CARS adapt the design of world famous tracks and use it for the competition events. Keep it up!

It's clear to see why more and more people both drivers and spectators are moving away from the Solodex events and attending the more fun Drag and Wind events. My real issue was today when all the competitors including myself finished our runs there was a so called "FUN RUN" session right after.Ready to line up again they announced,$20. for 2 runs for members and $30. for 2 runs for everyone else.Wondering if i understood correctly i went to the control tent and this was confirmed as said.Really absurd i must say!I paid $20. gate entry fee and $140. registration fee for competition and all i got was 4 runs in total for the entire event. Not a problem, but where did the fun go?Why should a registered competitor pay again to run the course when anyone else can just pay $30.?I should have just come in the evening and paid $120. and get 8 runs.

Wasn't going to specify but just want the organizers to understand value for money and probably work towards better events.

Solodex cost to me:
Gate entry $20.,Registration $140.,Tent rental $325. split between two cars.Number of runs for the event,4.

Drag and Wind cost to me:
Gate entry $0.,Registration $150./passes for 2 vehicles and 3 persons,Tent rental $300. split between two cars.Number of runs for my last event,10!

Thank you...

paying $140 for competition entry gains you a few things. you have a shot to prove yourself against cars in a similar class to yours as well as other drivers and also the chance to win a 1st or 2nd place trophy in your class for that particular event. if you're serious about improving your driving skill, discipline and getting the course right, then there's no better way to do it than under competition conditions. also if you complete the minimum number of competition events for the year, you'll also have a shot at the championship.

if you have no interest in the above, then you can certainly wait till the end of the event and just pay for fun runs and you'll get more runs in at cheaper rate. however, fun runs aren't ever guaranteed since it depends on the time left at the end of the event. also, there aren't official marshals to notify if you made an error on the course and the runs also aren't usually timed so you won't know if you're improving.

it was kind of amusing to see though
folks had to slow to a crawl to get through it and some still hit 3 out of 4.

dubcity,
there is always the unfortunate truth that Autosport is made up a company and a few volunteers, while CARS is even fewer volunteers.

There is no uncertainty, the end product will not be the same.

However, for the few volunteers, my biased opinion is they do a fantastic job, putting on said event.

This fella in repeated failed attempts to make himself dizzy, caused a delay in the class champ runs.
When he finally stopped he was asked to leave, since he did not find it agreeable to stop when the event officials told him to. His response to being asked to leave was "I would like to see you make me leave". Apparently he still has a kindergarten method of resolving problems.

Now had he left, he would not have given another genius his car to speed through parked cars, and resume further failed attempts to produce tire smoke.

Although it is right to consider implementing TTPS because of such incidents, I don't think you should let one idiot have such an effect. It is my guess that the competitors and spectators absorb the extra costs for hiring TTPS which would be a negative. It's good that you have a "ban list" which would keep him and others on this list out of this facility during autocross events. To my knowledge, there has not been any security and/or safety incidents thus far to justify the use of TTPS services.

The event went well but I noticed the turnout was on the low side, don't know if its is due to other events on the same day or person(s) choosing other events instead of solodex now.

kongorealm,

I don't think it fair to have to ask anyone who came out for the purpose of enjoyably racing to risk life / limb / property with that type mentality. He / they have a problem understanding basic english, with a compulsive desire to feel the touch of a man's hand about their body. Unfortunately they do exist, so some contingency should be considered and possibly put in place.

as for turnout, it's not a spectator sport, and there is another event which gives a better spectator experience. it's a low turnout of people interested in driving, and bettering such, and their peers. 20 or so competitors on sunday. more are always welcome, but seems some are not fully comfortable with doing, instead of watching.

We're trying our best to give drivers what they want. Keep telling us what you like and what you dont and we will try to accomodate.

Ideally we want to have a mix of course types, next year we want to try and do some actual SCCA style autocross courses as well. Perhaps introduce something completely new.

unfortunately, it only takes one idiot..........the question will now be 'how many incidents does it take to justify TTPS protection against hooligans?' one? two? seven?

I shudder to think what will happen if he is part of their crew and they return for another event armed with more of their ilk...

Just to add a two cents to the discussion about the cost. We have been losing money at some of our events, the cost to put it on is less than the amount we make on it. Now you know, we are not the govt, we cannot artificially create figures to make our deficit go down...so we have to charge money to compettitors to participate. Drag and Wind makes money from the gate attendance, more people go to see D&W because autocross is not a spectator sport, it is a participatory sport.
If there is any way we can reduce the cost to the participants I assure you we will.
You can do like me and a make a choice, either D&W or autocross. I cannot afford to do both. I prefer autocross however because it develops more in depth skills in a driver that can be translated into other forms of motor racing.

We would love to have you compete with us, but if you cannot afford to do both events we understand.

Hopefully, if we can get more sponsors next year, we can do something about the pricing. If anyone knows/works for any company you think may be interested in offering sponsorship, please let us know.

Might have been better if he had come out and requested to do the donuts before his run. I for one see no problem with doing that in the middle of the track, it's away from spectators and any solid objects.

Two problems with what he did. 1. He came off the track closer to the spectator area 2. The championship shootout was being conducted and we had to wait for that to end.

exactly. numerous times i have asked the opportunity to use a strange car while there is an intermission.
I sometimes get to do my do, and when they say they're ready, I come off, and give them back their course.
