Shot ah puncheon for the Flu

Is there any truth to this? Any first hand accounts of taking a shot of puncheon or some other strong drink to push the oncoming cold/virus back?

the alcohol may have a bit of an antiseptic effect on sore parts of the throat or may even relieve minor aches associated with the onset of the cold (or make u not care about them), but alcohol dehydrates you AND reduces your white blood cell count slightly (you kinda need those to help fight infections), so even though a shot of something may make u feel better temporarily, it's more mind over matter and alcohol consumption when you're fighting a cold isn't a good idea

Works for me usually, but this rounds i was on antibiotics
So I tried compensating with more honey and no puncheon and ended up with dire-rear.
