What's the purpose of the soil test? Agricultural? Environmental? Construction?

^ Probably. A lot of the university engineering lecturers very proficient in their fields (with exception the the two....) and do a lot of outside work and consulting privately. Only problem is that I don't know who this Birch character though.

A Statics/Strengths tutor, but he's a tutor for Final year Soil Labs/Testing and Project - You'd only really know him if someone was doing the Minor in Biosystems.
