saw some dolphins (not mahi mahi)swimming in pairs close to the boat , but didnt try to catch any. it was about 2 miles from the bon accord lagoon , going west towards trinidad.
there was some sort of bouy/marker in the water where the fish was.

i was in tobago for the christmas weekend and the tarpon and big cavalli were not around, they were probably celebrating christmas somewhere else. caught plenty small cavalli and A nice big lippy on cut mullet though.

Then the evening before I had to leave I hooked a screamer on a piece of chunked up grunt from a jetty, was using 50lb spiderwire and I nearly got spooled in like 20 secs until the line parted by the hook, tied hook straight to braid as all my leaders had run out :( i was thinking it was a big cavalli or a barracuda because of the speed that it was moving.

Went manzan monday with deadfish and he caught some 1 pound cavallis and a nice 3 pound snook.

On a different note 2 little boys almost drowned near us, they were swept out of the river by the falling tide and into the rough mouth area and 2 guys had to jump in and then throw rope 2 save them also.... thankfully they recovered on shore but the bigger brother apparently had a lot of water still in his lungs and had to be rushed to the hospital.....

aha, i get set up today down salt factory on the rising tide. Some cavalli come in a grop and one grab me as the lead was sinking. I swear this fish was huuge, turned out to be a measly 10-11 inch brute of a youthful jack. Seriously fun on 10lb gear. Its the horse eyed jacks that resemble a blue runner, not the regular jack crevalle.

Question, anyone coming up Grenada for the Tournament in the next 2 weeks?

Seems the sailfish are out there, one charter captain felt 12 and caught/released 8.

species referred to as "paag": Mutton, Dogtooth, Mangrove, Black and Schoolmaster Snapper.

the proper 'redfish', are either southern or northern american reds, true deeper water snappers. also, what we call plumheads (vermillion snapper) fall in the trini 'redfish' category. the other commonly caught snappers fall under our grunt category (about 4 actual different species) and the shallow water red snapper are usually what we call 'walliacke' (lane snapper)

what the yanks call 'redfish' is actually red drum or what we call rocando/racando.

i'm dying here for some good snapper fishing!!...no bait and no time for any boat mish. i'll make an attempt for fort ambercrombie or blue river mouth tmrw. depending on market bait stocks
