The mini has the rear wheel drive turbo rotary engine, manual transmission & differential out of a Mazda Rx7. It was a top secret project.

Agreed .... the Civic was wukkin ... after his first run I was wondering what he could've done with a dry track, some track bite and a clean track.

Biggest problem with Camden is the surface, no traction at launch stage, dirty track halfway down and to the end and worse yet traction differing left to right and all the way down. Is a wonder nobody end up in the cane.

Competition day was the worse, the 10-12 sec cars could barely run, some opting not to even do a first run .... damn weather. Some races done before the cars 1/4 way down the track since drivers having to hold back to save their vehicles.

Great turnout though, even with the shiddy weather .... shows the potential for auto sports business in TT .... even @ $80 and real rain ppl lining up to get in. Don't know when Trinidad will get it's act together and motorsports gets a proper facility .... maybe some enterprising American business men will come and save us.

PS: Condolences to the MINES GT-R

Re: TTASA Drag Racing - Important Information Release

Postby Kinday » November 28th, 2011, 4:25 pm

I enjoyed TTASA drags immensely...I was sorry that I personally couldn't be at both events last Sunday because I'll always support any ASPL event....however we had some cars that were meant for full on drag racing and this opportunity just could go unabated. It has been a three year wait for the turbo car in particular, with a driver who has never competed before so we were excited to see what our new race team was built upon in performance and spirit. Everything went great.

So on behalf of Garage 4 I would like to officially thank sponsors:
Valvoline
Coca Cola
Auto Nation
XR Performance
and everyone who had a professional input in anyway....thank you.

To the fellow racers who freely gave advice, support and assistance:
Chester, Sparky, Helmet, Boost Factory, Peter Laquis, and many others who may unfortunately go unnamed at this moment...you are all true inspirations.

And to the drivers:
Jason (turbo EG civic best ET 12.9)
Half Def (blue EK civic - best ET 13.80)
the crew and supporters...thanks for making the weekend a great one.

As a team, we learned a lot of valuable lessons. We're gonna be around for some time, with some more machines and greater focus on progress and professionalism as we actively participate in the various disciplines we love (currently drags and time attack).

Hope to see you guys at the next event.

this is by far maybe the worst drag strip but just by over 200 entrants and full stands tells that motorsport drag racing is a hugely successful endeavour from a business point of view.

We cant blame TTASA for the conditions etc as they only had camden for a limited time and with limited funds and equipment they try their best to put on a show - almost everyone there participate for the pure love of the sport.

You just cant help but think if Motorsport had the funds the govt. spent on the Brian Lara stadium, - profits from this would of already paid off for that. But say what.

one thing that left me pretty concerned though, on saturday afternoon, a fire started in the engine bay of a vehicle before he did his burn out. A member of the team had to use a tshirt to put out the fire because there was no fire extinguisher in the burn out area.....

is this FIA standard??

there were two fire extinguishers nearby, but the call was that it was simpler for the tuner/ mechanic to cover the carb that was just burning the excess fuel after the backfire than to cover the engine with the extiguisher's contents
