Which one would y'all buy between the Lenovo and the Asus? Two shiddy brands so don't tell me the answer is obvious. So far the Lenovo looks more promising.

I like the look of the Lenovo, looks professional and a bit thinner than the ASUS. That, and I've wanted a Lenovo for some time now.

i flew across to the US last week to get some of these bess deal laptops. not as easy as you think. these were the deal available:

best buy- the acer listed by duane
walmart- compaq with the same specs as the asus for $299
HHGREG(they bought out all circuit city stores- Acer laptops with same specs $298
Comp USA- Acer refurbished laptops same specs as the asus except a 500 gig hdd. $299
Brandsmart- waste of time. same laptop for $375

but guess what, i didnt get any laptops. everyone told you to purchase now and wait 3 weeks for delivery. their fine print stated that there were no guarantees on delivery. i even reserved 10 of the compaqs on walmart's site, paid online, got to the store only to be told they havent taken delivery of stock yet. got a refund right away.
but so far from what i have seen, HHGREG has the best deals. they bought out all circuit city stores in miami and recently opened a couple weeks back. they focus on only electronics and houshold electronics.

funny thing everytime I go to bestbuy, wallmart and target I tend to notice that the best deals are not necessarily the items on display and the staff are either idiots or instructed to sell certain products, I always take a look at the lower shelves for the boxed items. This is aside from the differences in web-only items and ship to store options, you can sometimes locate a store closeby with items in stock and reserve it using their instore product tracking codes from their store computers if you ask nicely, it is alot more efficient than trying to reserve it online for store pickup if you are on a tight travel schedule

Yeah. Brought in a 40" Sharp LED (LC40LE830u) and paid TT$2200 with Skybox and US$650 from Amazon a couple of weeks ago. Amazon raised the price to US$849 now.
