^ from the gatormoto link the XB karts are better for rentals IMO

you should find out about high treadwear tyres. The tyres they use at TTKA Karting events in Arima are TT$1200 for a set of 4 and lasts for only ONE event. That is $1200 for EACH kart for EACH event.

You will have to buy intermediate type tyres too that can work in wet and dry. You DONT want to put customers out there on slicks and rain starts to fall

nothing too big (about the size of ARC but with a real course and curbs etc, just small and wide enough for cars to drive around - NOT race side by side - but one at a time solodex, drifting etc..)

something like this
Image
this way it can be configured many ways for different events etc..
http://www.sokarters.org/tracklayouts.asp

this way it will always be used, even during the week, when drifters and street cars can come and get sideways with their bumpers tied on with zip ties ;) and on weekends the karts and come and take advantage of all the rubber put down ;)

As its small you can control to crowd etc, i really support this idea..

i think its confirmed.. Bezman doesn't think before he posts.

I am getting a bess price on the xb karts .. 200us less for each..
w.r.t tyres

depending on how the stock tyres hold up i would buy these in bulk ... there cheaper than the stock and are very good according to some reviews..

i estimated that i have like +or- 1250ft x +or- 500ft to play with

all maps are scaled to 200ft

aight just did some calculations and :-

Adams dimensions are roughly - 350ft wide 800ft long
Jackson dimensions are roughly - 500ft wide 700ft long

might be a little more down

^^^notice the small dirt section at adam's?
thats there specifically for supermoto racing........it isnt a full MX track, its designed to give 30% dirt 70% tarmac in a supermoto race

trust me, if you build a kart track(even if it does not have the option of a dirt section, but it should) there will be at least 30 supermoto riders who will use the facilities.........even i will make an effort to get a supermoto just to use on a track..........

i say do!

I would definitely build a dirt section!!

the good thing about this is that it would be a relatively small investment! the biggest costing thing is the road!

well any karting track with a straight longer than 1500 meters is considered a track suitable for shifter kart racing.. one acre is about ~4000sq/m so 2 acres would be more than enough once you configure the track to suit the land.

Utilizing the natural elevation changes could make it easy to control rain water run off and also make some interesting turns etc.

check this link and spend a few hours looking at the karting sites around the world

and hurry up and make the dam thing :) I have just the little car i want to come drive on it

Bezman i swear u giving me the best info!! i might hav 2 start paying you! when i finalize which piece of land i am using i would probably let you come have a look! and help with design..

well seems like you have everything going for you but im sure ur gonna spend a lot more than u think especially on paving. When the karting club looked at adding a 3" layer to ARC (jus the circuit layout, not the entire parking lot) the cost was over $1,000,000 ttd. I used to work at a track in miami when i was in school and will highly recommend buying a fleet of specific rental chassis from a well established kart company such as birel. we had chassis from kart mini out of brazil and they lasted a hell of a long time. most of ur clients will be 1st time karters and WILL crash heavily, even the experienced karters will crash and bounce each other. We had 5hp honda engines that required simple maintenence and started 95% of the time. You should have at least 15 karts ready to run but only run 10 at a time and you get tyres specific for rentals, those will also last a long time. You dont want the rental karts doing over 35 mph because again, there will be inexperienced drivers. dont worry about rain tyres, for safety reasons dont run the rentals while it is raining. putting drifting on the same track will be difficult because it tears up the surface and makes it very bumpy for the karts. the moto x is good but be careful not to let the trail join the circuit where karts will be passing. consession and food and all that is a great idea but focus more on the track for now. all this is a great idea but im sure there is a lot more to it then i touched on. the part that scares me is if it is sounding so easy why hasn't some other businessman invested money into it, especially seeing that there is nothing else like it in tnt its more reason for someone to do it

great points

reason why no one has done it, cause the people with the money/land to do it dont have the desire, the people with the desire, well you know the rest ;)

but it's petty limiting n terms of speeds and configurations

Ditto on the smooth surface to save the tires. I used to race karts at an indoor track in florida... PLENTY fun.

I remember a guy used to have a small go kart track and karts in the back of west mall back in the 80's. It didn't last very long tho... karts didn't catch on and very few ppl in trinidad had karts. He did not allow outside karts... only rental.

Google earth it... you can pull a measurement. That's really big for a basic kart track with sub 100cc engines.

One way would be to start off with a smaller more basic configuration and over time add on sections to the track to make it like the design you're currently looking at.

Thanks for all the replies !.. I did get a quote for 1km of track x 10ft for about 600,000 k thas w hot mix an all d other stuff.. 2 inch thickness .. But If cold mix is used it would be cheaper.. But hot mix lasts longer.. I am starting small once this pulls through... I would do the track in pieces .. But I am still puttin stuff together for this.. I am praying that it pulls through..

2" asphalt alone will not stand up long to cars.

roads are usually paved like this locally:
- fill - overburnden (sand/dirt filler)
- foundation 1 - pitchron (gravel/dirt)
- foundation 2 - limestone (aka bluemetal)
- asphalt - 4inches to 6 inches

somehow these roads do not stand up very well. i would investigate concrete then a think 1" or 2" layer of concrete. it's a heck of a lot easier to patch a road like this yourself.

Putting down that track (properly) will cost about 1 mill... this is going by the cost of some development work I've seen done

That is not counting the cost of land... tyre barriers are more or less free since people throw tyres away all the time and their is actually a cost to dispose of them

I think its time we racers put our money where our mouth is... most of us are working and spending money on our car with no real venue to run, why don't we pool our resources

What if say $1000 gave you a free access pass to the track for a year after it was completed, $2000 gave you 2 years etc.

Clubs like Carstt and the cart men could pay like 10k for a years events after it is built

This way the builder doesn't have to put out all the money for the track up front an we get something out of our investment...

Now these figures are just off the top of my head... I'm sure the ministry of sport will also contribute once they see that we are making a positive drive and are not bickering among ourselves

$1000 for free racing anytime you want (except when their are formal events) for a year is too much to pay?

You are not a racer then... that is plenty return-on-investment for many here I'm sure...
