Accident on the Beetham (Pics on PG2)

Postby urabus » July 12th, 2010, 8:21 am

Just passed an accident on the [west] bound lane, just after the Maritime flyover...seems to be a woman's body lying on the highway, car flipped and appears to be crushed on the hood, traffic just started to pile up when I passed....

The woman in the accident has passed away and was the wife of well known Rally driver Shelford Robinson. She was the mother of two.

I am not sure what happened.

Please accept my deepest condolences Shelford

just got this email from the TTRC

I am sending this communiqué on behalf of the President:

“It is with deep sadness and great sympathy that I must communicate to all members, the untimely passing of our dear member’s, Shelford Robinson, wife - Pamela Robinson. Information coming to us this morning, indicates that the vehicular accident in which she was involved earlier today, resulted in her passing. Pamela and Shelford live in Trincity.

We will keep you posted on any arrangements as they relate to the family.

Our thoughts and prayers are with the Robinsons at this very challenging time.”

I just spoke to Imtiaz Seepersad who said Shelford was driving not too far behind her. Pamela was on her way to work at 7:30am when the accident happened.

eye witness reports say that a purple Nissan Almera was cutting through traffic and clipped Pamela on the right side of her back bumper throwing her car into a spin, the car then flipped over on the hood. Pamela was thrown out the car through the back glass. On further investigation, she was wearing her seatbelt as it was still clipped in place but the backrest of the drivers seat broke allowing the momentum to apparently slide her body out.

eye witnesses say the purple almera stopped a little way up the road, but eventually drove off.

Pamela was taken to hospital where she later succumbed to her injuries.
