hey ppl, does anyone know the legal procedures to throw a raffle?

u "throwing" a raffle? better u have dem ring games with only cheap rum then..sure to get more money...or put imbert on a dunktank..

GAMBLING & BETTING ACT: CHAPTER 11: 19

APPLICANT REQUIREMENTS:
.The applicant must submit a Completed Bingo/Raffle application using the prescribed form.
Application forms are available from
(i) Any Police Station or

(ii) The Police Administration Building,

Corner Edward and Sackville Streets,
Port of Spain.


PROCEDURES:
1. A copy of the application will then be sent to the respective Police Division for inquiries and a comprehensive report will be submitted. The investigators report is to be appended.

2. A report from the Divisional Headquarters is forwarded to the Office of the Commissioner of Police.

3. Where it is applicable, (see 11:19) Section 21 (2) (c) and (g), a memo is sent to the Ministry of Finance for approval.

4. A memo from the Ministry of Finance is forwarded to the Office of the Commissioner of Police conveying approval.

5. A permit is prepared and the entire file is submitted to Commissioner's Office for review and signature.

6. The permit is then sent either to Divisional Headquarters for delivery to the applicant or hand delivered to the applicant Police Headquarters.

N.B: If the application is not recommended or approved by the investigator, the Minister of Finance or the Commissioner of Police, a letter is sent to the applicant informing him / her of such.


IN THE EVENT OF POSTPONEMENTS:
APPLICANT REQUIREMENTS:


Submit the original permit for cancellation.
Submit a letter stating the reason for the postponement.

POLICE PROCEDURES:
1. Where applicable a memorandum is sent, informing the Ministry of Finance of the change of date and requesting approval for the new date.

2. A memorandum from the Ministry is forwarded to the Office of the Commissioner of Police.

3. A new permit is prepared and submitted for review and signature.

IN THE EVENT OF A REQUEST FOR AN EXTENSION
APPLICANT REQUIREMENTS:

Submit the original permit for cancellation.
Submit a letter stating the reason for the extension.
Audited statement of revenue collected thus far.

POLICE PROCEDURE:

A new permit is prepared and submitted to the Commissioner of Police for review and signature.

SPECIAL EXEMPTIONS:
SCHOOLS:
Bingos or Raffles to be drawn as part of a school event may be exempted from prior approval providing that:-
a) All tickets and/or chances be sold on the day of the event.
b) The sale of tickets or chances be confined to the value of the school event.

Once approval is granted, the applicant / organization must submit an audited statement of the event.

do you also need approval from the NLCB?
just asking as sometimes i see these competitions/raffles as "approved by the NLCB"..

only if the cost per chance is 25c or more......daz why raffles these days are for 24c
