well i just started using one, and at 3.5 - 4 mph (which is at jogging pace) at an incline of 5% for about 45 mins, i burn about 275 calories. but you also have to watch what you eat. if you wanna drop the pounds, you will have to lower the amount of calories you eat. 3500 calories = roughly about 1 pound of fat, so if you cut ur diet by 500-1000 calories, in no time you will be shedding the pounds.

i lost 8 lbs in one month

gym 4 days a week
......treadmill for approx 45 mins
10 mins walking followed by 15 mins running, then 10 more mins walking followed by 5 more mins running and the last 5 walking at a low intensity
Low intensuty weight training after the treadmill 4 set of 12 reps for whichever muscle u intend to work
started eating smaller portions about 4-5 times daily.....fruit is very important stuff like peas, black eye beans etc
late eating is a no no and avoid too much sweet stuff
my only problem is having the discipline on the weekends to follow thru the workout week.....too much :drinking: on the weekend......lol

Mrs Peanut Punch and Rebelb14 said it.

Best thing is a gym because you'd have the support there plus someone to guide you with an eating plan that should change as your workout routine changes.
At the gym you would get the cardio you need to lose the weight and the weight lifting/training to help you tone up as you lose the weight.

Yes, try not to eat after 7pm. If you do get hungry at night, have a fruit like an apple, pear or orange.
Bananas and mangos are fattening so no more than one of those for the day.

Good luck and I hope you get to your goal.

VexXx Dogg, i in the same boat.

I stopped eating roti, and fast food, and anythign fried.
I bought an excercise bike.
I cut down on the soft drink.
I starting to eat more fish.
I walk on evenings too.

pugboy gave some very good advice on the first page, running is hard if you're now starting off and you're not fit.

but at some point when you get fitter you should start jogging/running, it burns more calories per hr than the exercise bike.

I actually threw out the idea of an exercise bike.
I bought a mountain bike and ride at least 5 days of the week. THe outdoors feeling is much better than depressing myself indoors on an exercise bike

Starting off small, each day i ride at least 5Km - and i try to push harder over the weekend.
Still on a diet of sorts - cut out refined carbs, junk food, Soft drink. I cut DOWN significantly on sugar, cant cut it out completely - i like to drink fresh juice, but i dont add sugar.
I have been eating a lot of veggies, beans, lean meat and fiber and i try to drink plenty water.

I did not weigh myself so I wont be disappointed by little result, but I FEEL wayyyy better.
I have more energy and hopefully should lose some weight over time.

It is about maintaining a healthier lifestyle, and honestly, the little changes have me feeling better than i was before....

That's a great attitude man. It's not about weight, it's about your well being. I started back walking/ jogging after stopping for a few months and it feels better already.

Good thread and good info people...i need to stop smoking and shed a few pounds myself...any advice for someone like me - i'm home in Trinidad for 7-10 days and out where ever they send me for 14 days.
When working i am on call 24/7 and usually stay in a hotel or if the company has a house on that particular island i stay there. Cooking is not really an option for me and sometimes because of the hours i basically have to "eat whats available".
Any advice

Cardio is the best way of shedding unwanted fat..try walking 45 mins every day
If you have the time do some weight training 3 times a week. It would help

As mentioned start eating 5 small meals vs 3 meals, it would speed up your metabolism and help you get more leaner.

Diet and proper nutrition is the key. Dont starve yourself, do some research what's good for your body type.

Its a complete lifestyle change..but one I would advise anyone to do.

Every hotel has a gym, also, when I travel, I carry my running shoes. I am sure wherever you go you can jog. It takes discipline man.

If you have to eat what's available, eat less. And drink water if you can.

Boy, eating one meal slows your metabolism, and then you tend to over eat when you do eat.

I shouldn't be giving advice nah, I he the healthiest of people.

Yeah i know..one big meal because at the time i'm basically starving
Will make some changes though, i will try the 4-5 small meals a day to start with and try to "speed" up my metabolism..i'm usually in the "spanish" speaking countries so it is easy to find distractions.

chest exercises...

btw devrat... when you eat one meal per day your body usually goes into starvation mode and you end up losing muscle mass instead of fat.. 6 small meals per day and lots of froots, veggies and water and cardio and you would be good to go...
