Why Do We Kiss?

Discuss!!

They have put a man on the moon and unlocked the secrets of the human genome.

But when it comes to the basics of human behaviour, scientists still don't have a clue.

Kissing, blushing and laughing are among the traits that have defied explanation by biologists, physiologists, psychologists or evolutionary theorists.

Some hold that a kiss brings with it pleasurable memories of breastfeeding, and the love, comfort and security that went with it.

A less savoury suggestion is that we lock lips because we equate sharing saliva with pleasure.

it's innate, primitive & animalistic'
most animals do mating dances, fight, dominate, or do some ritual to get closer, court or just plain bull eachother lol :lol:

As breast feeding parents, my wife and i would often joke and smile at the closely resembling action our baby would do when feeding - he would like bumb-bumb his lips against when finding the nipple and he would make smooching sounding noises just before he latches. So i can see some substance in the write-up above.

As for the laughing, it is really an unexplained action. Our little baby just naturally smiles and gerggles when he is full which equates to being happy and he smiles when we talk to him and when he and i are playing "fighting-fighting" .... how he knows to smile when he is happy is unexplained, its a human thing.
