Can someone tell me which AC unit consumes less electricity, in other words which is cheaper on my light bill. Those portable 110V units or a 220V split unit

220V will be more efficient for equal power output. For a small room, the 110 unit might be more efficient, but for a larger room it will pull more current and be less efficient[/thread]

Go with a 12000BTU split unit which is 220v

220v and dont think because its higer voltage u use more electricity eh
you are actually using less amps = lower power consumption

soooo...wouldn't the unit have a rated power consumption in WATTS stated somewhere?

P= IV

power = current by voltage

so just multiply the current by the voltage nd u'll get the power comsumption
