blink + torrent question

Postby trini_ravi » May 6th, 2009, 10:49 am

hi guys i need some help...

i can't seem to connect to blink with a static IP address, only dynamic which prevents me from opening a port to get incoming connections...

i've tried toying with my router/ connection settings to get a static IP... no dice

i called blink and the indian guy said that static IP were only for business customers not residential...

anyone knows how to fix this... so i can download torrents again???

Blink blocks the firewall on your internet connection hence that's why u cannot access any p2p programs to download your music and what not they say that takes up bandwidth and slows down their server so u got to call and ask them to unblock the firewall that they have up so u can get access to download your stuff other than that there is no other way

yes my firewall is down... torrents worked perfectly for months... i even called and confirmed this...

the problem is i can't connect as a static IP only dynamic.... which changes the IP address everytime i connect...

if anyone can help me with the settings to successfully connect as a static IP, it would be greatly appreciated....

The only way to get a static ip is to request one from blink and i think u have to pay a extra fee for this u.....but u can create your own static ip within your own domain or private network but this would only have effect on the pc that u network

Explain exactly why you need a static IP?

If it's a service you are running from your home network, you should try using Dynamic DNS.
