i have some friends from Singapore.
They used to be one of the few countries which still did the Cambridge A levels. They got MUCH more difficult exams than the English or West Indies. Their Further Maths paper was unbelievably difficult. Their Question 1(a) was harder than our entire Question 1...
and doing 5 A level subjects is the norm over there. (4 subjects + General Paper). Exceptional students do 6-7 A level subjects.
I still wouldn't want to live there tho, too strict for my liking.
