Advice needed on renovating an old house.

Postby SuperMan9999 » June 17th, 2025, 10:25 am

Hi there, I have a relatively old house long time ones with Mora wood beams and mora flooring with concrete columns and concrete walls a lot of it has been renovated so far with modern black aluminum sliding windows and black tinted aluminum sliding double doors new modern roofing etc I happen to like how this look is coming along.
Some of the tongue and groove planks have rotted, so it's 600 sq ft I got a quote $15,000 for tongue and groove "Tapana wood" from sampath company I believe they are the best in Trinidad for this kind of stuff and they said it's rated for 90 years and its termite treated etc.

My question here is would it be better to remove the old planks and put in this new Tapana wood version or should I put termite treated MDF or even Marine Plywood or something over the current old flooring and then install Laminate floor tiles that look like wood and as I understand doesn't actually scratch and has a shine to it? if I do should I use interlocking laminate vinyl planks or the adhesive ones that stick?

Putting marine ply over the current floor and then laminate vinyl planks might be much easier than trying to remove Mora plants most of which doesn't even have nail heads at this point so not even sure current nails buried into that mora beam could even be removed might have to cut out the nails.
