PNM To Select Opposition Leader
April 29, 2025 TTT News
The People’s National Movement will meet with their General Council on Wednesday to ratify the position of Opposition Leader.
The PNM conceded defeat in the 2025 General Election on Monday night at about 10pm.
Political Leader Dr. Keith Rowley said the PNM will move expeditiously into Opposition, and a decision will be made on the next Opposition Leader. He said the party will begin on Tuesday to prepare for the next call in 60 months.
“The General Council will meet on Wednesday and will direct the elected members of the house as to who should be supported for the position of Opposition Leader. That is a position we have held before, and even from there, we provide yeoman service to the people of Trinidad and Tobago.”
Meanwhile, PNM Chairman and outgoing Prime Minister Stuart Young indicated that he looks forward to playing a key role in the party as it moves forward.
The problem is not the leader with PNM anymore ...they need to revamp and hit the drawing board and see where they went wrongMmoney607 wrote:If Penelope Beckles is opposition leader, Kamla better prepare for a next fifteen years as prime minister

Foster can take this time and consolidate all those businesses he has.
Ppl say they cant understand how he lose but Express literally had him at the centre of one of those investigative articles on his "business activities. Also his Ministry's biggest projects wee giving land to non-farmers to farm and hosting influenza awards. Guess that's why the socials loved him.

Redress10 wrote:So I confuse. If the MPs are elected then why is the general council selecting opposition leader? The opposition leader is selected by members of the opposition. This is not an internal pnm issue but is a parliamentary issue.
Not so?
Anyone else getting the feeling that pnm relieved to lose this election? They eh seem to be beating up much. Wonder if is a sign of just how shaky the country's finances are etc
