ppl finding all kinda reasons for apathy. why nothing should be done.

i originally posted this in the feminism thread because this is just the latest in a long history of femicides and infanticides on the island. we do have people like Gabriel Hosein working towards policy solutions, but every time she is brought up here she is demonized. Fellas somehow think feminism is an issue of the past when very clearly women are still not safe from men on the island.

and again these same fellas finding all kinda reasons why nothing should be done.

I don't know who asked the mods to move the post, but I had a reason for putting it there to begin with.

I'm all for women's rights, but feminism in the last two decades or more has become a s**tshow. Gabby is part of that where many men and women have smarten up to it.

The biggest victims of violence on the island are men btw. Additionally, you're applying femicide to the wrong situations.

Good thing it was moved because the conversation would have descended into male rights vs female rights where the tragic story of a woman and child being murdered would have been lost.

The man who beheaded Amarah Lalliette earlier this year was not indo and no indication he was an "idol worshipper".

This is not an indo or afro thing, south/central or north thing

This is not a "trinidadian male" thing either

It is a growing crisis with males in general as a boy becoming a man is much more confusing today than any time in our history, and we are seeing repercussions of it and its nuances within different races, class, groups, etc.

Not to mention , the amalgamation and rise the of incels over the internet.

Correct, symptoms of a masculinity crisis.

Once a man is compromised and confused, the woman and children are next.

The irony here Is that the family was actually in some small church.

The only devil idol them was dealing in would have been Jesus

THE PATRIOTIC FRONT CONDEMNS in the strongest possible terms the brutal and senseless murders of Tara Ramsaroop, her precious daughter and Laura Sankar, all of whom were taken from us in a matter of days.

THESE HEINOUS ACTS are not isolated incidents; they represent a disturbing pattern of violence against women that has become all too common in Trinidad and Tobago. As a nation, we must ask ourselves: how did we become so desensitized to these tragedies?

WE CAN NO LONGER stand by in silence as the blood of our sisters is shed, as their families are torn apart, and as the violence continues unchecked. The Patriotic Front calls on every citizen, every community, and every leader to take a stand. It is time to declare war on domestic violence, and to ensure that every woman in Trinidad and Tobago feels safe in her home, in her community, and in her country.

Let the deaths of Tara Ramsaroop and Laura Sankar be a turning point for our nation. We demand immediate and decisive action from our authorities, a strengthening of laws protecting women, and the urgent implementation of measures that will prevent such atrocities in the future. Enough is Enough.

plenty femicides last week oui

In the last week, six women have been attacked. Four have died of their injuries. In the first incident, a 64-year-old South Oropouche woman was chopped several times outside her Berridge Trace home on October 7 by two assailants who jumped out of a vehicle belonging to a man she knew. She was warded in stable condition at hospital.

On October 8, Tara "Geeta" Ramsaroop, 34, and her 14-month-old daughter Shermaya "Jada" Motilal were chopped and killed. Her estranged common-law husband, Rishi Motilal was charged for their killings and appeared before Master Shabiki Cazabon in the South Criminal Court on October 11. He was denied bail and remanded in custody to reappear on January 10, 2025.

On October 10 Sunita Mohammed, 50, of Pond Lane, School Trace, Gasparillo, died at the San Fernando General Hospital after she fell and hit her head when she was pushed by a male relative during an argument at her home.

Around 3 am on October 11 Anna Innis-Burke was forced out of her Dibe Road, Long Circular, St James home during a domestic dispute and made to walk to walk along Belle Vue Road, where the man stabbed her several times. He later kidnapped her 12-year-old son and fled into the hills nearby. The boy was later found after the police and Defence Force launched a massive mission to find him.

What was supposed to be an evening of fun at a car show with her children ended in tragedy for a Princes Town woman when she was chopped to death by a close male relative on October 11 in an attack investigators believe stemmed from a domestic incident.

Laura Sankar, 34, of Post Office Trace, New Grant, Princes Town, was killed in front of her 16-year-old son.

Her son told police that before he took a shower around 5.34 pm, his mother had an argument with the suspect.

The teen said while he was getting dressed in his bedroom, he heard his mother screaming and discovered the suspect chopping her in the bathroom.

...

Police said the suspect told them: “I know why I killed she, look the cutlass here.”

He was taken into custody and the cutlass was seized.

The NGO is right: trying to live frugally when you're catching your ass is no easy task even if you stick to necessities.

There's the anecdotal accounts of scrunters who still prioritize luxury pursuits and items but this argument is not for them. Financial pressure for people who genuinely living live life like a greased walk on a steep incline is no joke. Not seeing an end in sight or even a break adds to the pressure.

Just note it is no excuse to turn violent or kill anybody. That is weenie behaviour and an indirect admission you not taking responsibility for your contribution to your problem.

Since when does "offensive sheit" bother a thick skinned man like yourself.

Have you got soft?

Rishi's mother confirmed that he used to drink rum and beat Geeta.

She also said his father used to drink and lash her, that is where he picked up the bad behaviour.

You supposed to know about the countless reports on domestic violence where the man abuses the woman while being under the influence.

if your man is a as$hole this is a big RED FLAG. Get out of that relationship.

I always see a lot of ladies who are with as$holes, and never understood why when they could do much better. Fedup see ladies treated like sheit by their man in public, being ignored, cussed, ridiculed etc...

repeat that again for women who feel they can change a man. there are always signs, always
