Didn't go chinese as my fear is the motor, braking and suspension system longevity, as well as the interior bits (leather etc) where they are well known for minging. Their battery tech however definitely surpasses everyone else.

I find it interesting when people say they're waiting for EV prices to drop - its unlikely to ever in tnt as the government will at some point reimpose tax on electrics, which may increase the price significantly

New price drops are marginal and will be easily accounted for and much more the moment taxes are reinstated.
Good value to be had bringing used but no warranty means the car is more or less a write off in the unlikely event something happens to the battery without a warranty.

BYD is very active on Twitter. CEO shared a really interesting video and info about how fast their production process is. Them vehicles basically flying off the production line. Hopefully by the time my current vehicle reaches its end, EVs in general and Chinese EVs will have more of a track record to make a purchase.

My one crit about Chinese involvement in autos and EV's is the vehicles at best look like the kind of copyright free designs you'd see in a GTA game, and at worst look cheap and disposable. Still more exciting than Tesla's bland designs but overall look like autos you'd see in dystopian scifi.

How strong is the local availability of replacement parts locally? Do we have a Chinese bamboo yet?

to have a bamboo you need to have a huge feeder chain of older cars being taken off the market

it took a long time before korean parts became avail bamboo style

^^That's another factor that holding off the next car purchase.

The wife was looking around for something small for herself. Massy said basically all their Nissans sold, and the Note is RORO only BUT they have a ton of MG.

She say is just a small car she want for her to drive exclusively and they tried to sell her on a MG3. Other than the car looking like a shelved concept the Chinese found in a MG file cabinet when they bought the brand off the British, I wondered what would be the buyer's position when it's time to replace components.

A lil off topic but I really want a Nissan Leaf. Any tuners have experience with those, whether first hand or through contacts?

G go do a test drive of the MG. A client who is not a fan of electric or MG in particular did a test drive recently and was telling me last night, "That thing is not a car it's a weapon." he was impressed with its acceleration and torque, said it was a lot of fun to drive
